Title: JaMychal Green, Tony Mitchell goes undrafted Post by: Jamos on June 29, 2012, 06:42:12 AM This doesn't surprise me at all considering all of their team problems last year and I'm not so sure that they had the skills that they thought they had. I hope this sends a message to the younger ones at Bama that think the NBA is just waiting on them to arrive there. I'm sure that both of them will probably get a chance to play overseas, a far cry from the NBA though.

Plus, neither showed a tremenous amount of development in their time here. And of course the coup de grace was making their final act of self-promotion their highly public failure to help their team when they were most desperately needed. Not surprised at all.

Yes he had discipline problems but I thought his play in international ball last summer and in pro try-out events showed he can play. I would not be surprised to see him get picked up as a free agent and make a team.
Imagine how productive Green would have been at Alabama if we had one guy who could consistently hit an outside jump shot. Every team played zone or crowded the lane to make him earn every point. He is going into the Alabama record books as one of the most productive players ever. I am a J Green fan and hope he gets a chance at the NBA. Mitchell will be off to Europe never to be heard from again and all I can say is good riddance. The league is full of those types of players. World Artest and Gilbert (gun totin') Arenas jump to mind. I think it has to do with their lack of talent, particularly TM. Unless he was in a position to slam dunk or shoot the occasional 3 pointer, he loafed. There was a serious lack of hustle from Mitchell and it showed. Forwards like Green are a dime a dozen in the NBA and I don't think he showed any particular skill that made him draftable. JMHO.

I think Mitchell can be a solid player overseas, it he adjusts his attitude. The guy has talent. Also, don't knock playing overseas. These guys can start for a team in Italy, Spain, Germany, Turkey, etc., and make $4-$6 million a year. That ain't bad. |
