The University of Alabama tight end certainly stands out on the roster as well, listed at 6-foot-6 and 269 pounds. The former Pickens County standout has watched for three years as the tight ends before him have taken hold of the starting job with a strong sense of leadership. Now, he and senior-to-be Brad Smelley are competing as the veterans, rather than as the understudies. "I always go back to when I first got here and we saw Nick Walker lead the tight ends, then Colin Peek and Preston Dial," Williams said. "Most people would probably say it's Smelley's time. I hope it's me. We'll see how the spring goes, this summer, and what happens this fall." Working at the position along with Williams and Smelley are Chris Underwood and freshmen Harrison Jones and Brian Vogler.
