Tight ends don't typically steal the spotlight in 7-on-7 football competitions but Autauga Academy star O.J. Howard has been an exception in Portland, Oregon this week during Nike's elite training camp The Opening. The Alabama commit wowed onlookers with an 80-yard touchdown reception during group play of the Nike 7On tournament and has earned praise from analysts at the event as one of the biggest surprises of the week....

This young man is very impressive on the football field, hopefully he will choose to wear the crimson jersey.

Yep, I hope his commitment is solid.

Auburn committed Carl Lawson was noticeably absent from competition on Saturday and according to 247Sports' Keith Niebuhr, the star defensive end was sent home from the event for "disrespectful conduct."

Yeah and I'm not a bit surprised at anything of this nature to happen with any of the players or possible players at Auburn.

The rumor is (via text) that he spit on the pizza, because it wasn't up to his standards!  Punk.

I'm surprised he didn't pull his pistol and start shooting up the place. :dunno:

OJ, at 6-6, 230lbs, 4.49 40-yard dash, will be a dream for Nuss to create mismatches with.

No kidding.  He was the MVP at The Opening, and he'll be the target of every recruiter now.

Read a report from one of those recruiting guys that reported OJ's mom as saying he (and the family) were 100% committed to Bama.  She also mentioned that the parents of the Bama commitments at The Opening really bonded together as a group.

That's very encouraging news. We have a group of very talented players committed to Bama. I hope they feel the same way on NSD.

OJ's comments regarding the Nkemdiche situation also indicated his full commitment.  Paraphrasing he said that WE don't do that kind of thing (give package deal scholarships) at Alabama.
