TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The dog days of summer are probably a few weeks away, but we're currently entrenched in the dog days of the college football offseason.

Spring football seems like it was 40 years ago and we're still multiple weeks away from SEC Media Days, the unofficial kickoff celebration to the 2012 season.

That's why, over the next two weeks, we'll be taking an in-depth look at all 12 of Alabama's opponents. At the very least, it will get the conversation going in the direction of football and away from whatever else sports fans in Alabama discuss during the summer.

We're now in October, where the Crimson Tide gets a bye before it lands at its newest destination on the SEC circuit.

Who: Missouri

When: Saturday, Oct. 13, TBD

Where: Memorial Stadium; Columbia, Mo.

Series history: Missouri leads 2-1 (Last meeting, 1978, 38-20, Alabama)

Early line: Alabama (-14)

The coach: Gary Pinkel (12th season at Missouri, 85-54 at MU; 21 seasons overall, 158-91-3)

Last year's record: 8-5 (5-4, fifth place in Big 12; defeated North Carolina, 41-24, in Independence Bowl)

Predicting a great offense, but a small, possibly non-competitive defense.

Well I think we go undefeated so this one has to be a winner. Besides we are going to be a the crystal egg party. RTR!

I watched a bit of Mizzou football last night on ESPNU's best 25 games from 2011.  They were playing Arizona State early in the season.  What I took away from the game is that Mizzou does not have a great offensive line.  Bama will be all over their QB.

Missouri could have a long game against the Tide.

The Tigers are small on the defensive line, a problem that can be overcome much easier in the Big 12 than in the SEC.

Our running game will get at least 250 yards in the game and our O-line will treat their D-line like women.
