That can produce an aurora display as far south as Alabama and northern California. Baltimore and Maryland may be in a prime area for a display if the timing works out well before sunrise on Saturday (5:51am EDT)...

The down side is the electromagnetic energy of this magnitude can disrupt power grids, GPS satellite communication, phone service and more. ...
:o :o :o

Get out at 5AM and watch it!!

Solar Flare photographed this week.

Experts say it could cause huge power outages; worst since 1989.  :tinfoil:

"Somehow they got these moon launches between big solar flares that would have killed them right then and there," Bieber notes.

"Everybody calm down.  Solar flares won't hurt us."

Coach Saban has this under control.  Seems that only astronauts near the moon would be affected.  We may have power surges, a pretty sky, but not much else.

Cat, you're nothing but a scaredy cat. I'm not worried about this at all.

I walked outside for a look this morning just before 5AM.  No aurora borealis, but when I returned to my computer we had 12 Louis Vuitton (spam) posts left on the forum by aliens!!

I didn't see any either. Was that Jupiter that was shining so big and bright below the moon?

I didn't see the planets, but according to this site it was either Jupiter or Venus: http://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/visible-planets-tonight-mars-jupiter-venus-saturn-mercury

Thanks for the link. It was Venus per the link, it looked so big and bright, pretty sight with the small moon.
