Josh Rutledge's major league debut was a memorable one tonight with the Colorado Rockies.

The former Alabama star started at shortstop and batted eighth in a 6-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Denver.

That is a short time in the minor league for Josh. He was a very good player for us. What a debut. He went 2 for 2 with a double and a single, drove in 2 RBI, walked and stole a base. I love to see these Alabama boys make it to the big league.

That just goes to show you that there has been some good talent on the Bama team for the past few years but they just haven't had the coaching to get them to the level that they should have been.

We were solid up the middle a couple of years ago when Rutledge played shortstop, Ross Wilson at 2nd and Dugas in center. I think they batted 1-2-3 in the batting order too.
