Title: 5 questions as Alabama prepares for preseason camp
Post by: pmull on July 31, 2012, 10:03:35 AM
This is a good list of questions. All were answered in a postive way except the backup QB question. I am glad we have that big OL that must keep him from taking a lot of hits.

Quote
1. Would the Tide be doomed if McCarron goes down?
2. How well will the Tide reload in its secondary?
3. How healthy is running back Eddie Lacy?
4. How much will the Tide improve on special teams?
5. How much will Alabama's offense change with a new coordinator?

We have been in the same position, backup QB wise, for a long time. My worst nightmare.

We have to develop a couple of back up QB's. Then when they are done fighting it out, we should have 2 back up roles. I have to say though when it comes down to the end, I trust CNS to make the right choices. RTR!

As far as the offense goes, I am excited to see what they can do. I think they have more playmakers on offense than they have had in a long time. Christion Jones and Kenny Bell are explosive, Lacey and Hart and Yeldon can cause havoc out of the backfield, and Kevin Norwood is the tall possesion receiver we missed last year. Add to that Michael Williams, Eddie Williams, and Black and Cooper, and AJ is going to have a lot of weapons. We should have quite a few plays over 20-30 yds this year.

The backup QB is the whole question mark for the team. Can he replace AJ, if needed? Scary to think about.

1. No. Will we have a drop off? Certainly. But not doomed. we will have a stable of RB's and some play maker type WR's to make up for it.

2. How? We will reload well. The talent is there, and the coaching is there. It will not be an issue.

3. CNS said  he is 100%. Can't get much more "insider info" than that.

4. Shelly and Foster have improved. PPl forget about Lee Tiffin's first year. Plus we have the next best up and comer, on campus.

5. Some, but not much. CNS wants conservative play, to eat the clock up. It rest his defense, and keeps a smaller amount of points ont he board. Which, of course, is something you when you are a 'defensive team."
