Title: Penn State Trustees to Appeal NCAA Sanctions
Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 06, 2012, 07:31:11 PM
These folks are consumed with so much arrogance and blind loyalty to Penn State that it is scary. I think the NCAA should do its own investigation then give Penn State the death penalty. Maybe that will shut everyone up there up. Amazing arrogance and self-denial.

Quote
A Penn State trustee cited a need for due process in telling the NCAA on Monday that he intends to appeal college sports governing body's strict sanctions on the university for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Trustee Ryan McCombie said earlier Monday in a letter to fellow board members that he planned to take the action and sought an NCAA hearing. He invited other trustees to join in the appeal.

McCombie's lawyers later sent the NCAA their intent to appeal letter, saying they also represented other trustees.

As I said in a previous post, opening up the the NCAA case while there are three, perhaps four with Spanier, heading to trial and looking to make deals is a really really bad idea. If there is more that comes out while the case is under review it could, as MD suggests, go from worse, to worser.

I thought Penn State wavied their right to due process in exchange for taking the death penalty out of play.

I have come to the point of wondering why Penn ST. is dragging this thing out. If the Nazi or NCAA has done something they ain't going to undo it. Time for peace and quiet. RTR!

In the espn inside story of the negotiations, there is a suggestion that the BOT weren't fully informed of the terms and didn't sign off on them. I don't know who has the authority to speak for Penn State. That is the only possible way I can see for them to get around the signed consent degree.
