Title: "Jovon Robinson's transcript raises more questions than answers"

B'ham News' spin on the Aub recruiting scandal:

Here's what we know about the Jovon Robinson transcript case.

Auburn is keeping the freshman running back out of practice while the NCAA investigates allegations that his Wooddale High School transcript was falsified. Memphis City Schools, after being contacted by the NCAA last week, said a Wooddale guidance counselor resigned after admitting to creating the fake transcript.

There's a lot we don't know -- and may not know for a while.

Did the falsified transcript, which was first reported by The Memphis Commercial-Appeal, change Robinson from an NCAA non-qualifier to a qualifier? Was Robinson aware of the fabricated document? Did anyone connected to Auburn know about the fake transcript and/or apply improper pressure to Wooddale, or was everyone at Auburn in the dark? ...

Frustrating that the B'ham News has become an Aub publication.  They try to twist this story by bringing up (what they say is comparable) a story about an Alabama player's transcript.  Difference?  The computer made the previous mistake by rounding up numbers.  This was a falsified transcript, changed by a counselor, and the counselor was fired when she admitted she changed it.

Hello, Birmingham?  Why do you tolerate this crap?

Many of the state's papers aren't even good enough to be fish wrappers anymore, i.e., the Montgomery Advertiser. The Mobile Register is probably the lesser of the evils of the larger newspapers.

There are ways to get a boardline student eligible without putting your job in jeopardy. A lot of teachers volunteer as tutors before school or during free periods. It would not be unheard of for a counselor to ask a teacher to cut a kid a break that has a 76 and needs a B. Read a book for extra credit or write a paper, etc. When this type stuff happens no one resigns or gets fired. Something stinks in this case. My guess is the barn will skate by again while the kid is off to Junior College.

There is too much smoke coming out of the barn. Scam Newton, street agents, falsifing grades and who knows what else. Even the dumb azz NCAA has to see what is going on.

There's no doubt that the B'ham News is the campus paper for Auburn. Anytime that the Barn gets in a little trouble, here comes the B'ham News to their rescue with some type of twisted information, but the first the that happens is a report on the status of the trees, that's a dead giveaway that Auburn is in trouble again.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I also think Auburn will skate. Memphis is a cesspool for this kind of activity and has been for years. This situation is rotten to the core and I personally think Auburn is involved. The smoking gun should come when they find that daddyo wasn't injured $250K worth. But the barn has a knack for escaping the hot seat with the NCAA. We'll see.

I find it strange that the NCAA will drop the A-Bomb on say like Penn State
and other schools at the mention of improprieties
but the barn never gets anything but a free pass  :dunno:

Hardly related issues.

But expect the NCAA to open the history book on the Aubs if this Jovon issue has legs.  The church-bagman-Cam story was an embarrassment to this NCAA leadership, as was the Lowder-YellowWood crap, and there are plenty of questions yet about Dyer's recruitment to Aub, etc.  Wait and see before passing judgment.   :popcorn2:

roids ... Lowder , Jimmy Boy and the drunk coach , geez they are untouchable !

just sick of them getting away with murder  >:(

I have bought bait mullet ("Patronas Seafood" at Dauphin Island) wrapped in the Mobile Press-Register.  How can any newspaper be more qualified than that?

I honestly believe there is something fishy going on. The new high school coach, the GC and the aubies could very well be in cahoots. Sooner or later the subs will get what is coming.

Lots of rumors flying.  If half of them are true, the Aub trees will never be heard from again!

I'm with you on that Chech, there is some hot stuff flying around. I'm headed to the store to get more popcorn.  :D

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Auburn gets Updykes trial moved up to next week. ;)

I heard this 4th person via another web site from somebody who may or may not be credible.  But supposedly, UT recruited this guy hard.  AU sent him maybe one letter.  UT stayed after him through his entire recruitment, only to find out he couldn't get into UT (Or JUCO either!)  When UT found out that he was admitted into AU they did some inverstigating to find out how the kid could qualify and dug this up and turned it in.
I have no idea if true, but just wanted to share.

I don't have any 1st-hand news on it either, but heard that numerous schools backed off when his academics lacked.  The Aubs signed him, THEN his transcripts changed.  I heard from a friend in Memphis that the NCAA was investigating for quite a while, then visited the school 2 weeks ago, all before the Aubs became aware of the investigation.  The counselor, who was rumored to be from Aubland, apparently was a Grambling graduate.  She admitted changing the transcripts so he'd be eligible to play, and was fired.  Whatever else she told the NCAA was kept quiet, but word is 'the investigation is far from over'.  She is the key - as are his coaches.

Lol! Me too. I'm just not putting that much stock in it, though. I've never seen UT display any character about anything. Why would they here?

Phillip Shanks was on Finebaum on Monday and said something similar to this. Shanks is the Decatur attorney that was representing Contrell and Williams in the Albert Means case. During the trail he had his office broke into and he was knocked out by a blow to the back of the head. His files on the case was stolen. He is credible. He said UT is going after the barn like they went after Bama in the past. He said Robinson could not get admitted to UT.

Another rumor floating around id Ole Miss turned the barn in. Ole Miss recruits Memphis hard. They said he could not get in at Oxford either.

This is getting better and better. Someone credible reporting the same thing now makes this newsworthy. I wonder if Ole Miss pointed the finger at the roller barn, also?

Did you watch the whole thing?  They interview him at the end.  It appears he made a full recovery.  There were several to choose from, but I used this one because I've seen it before and I knew he survived.  I think he was in the hospital for several weeks if I recall correctly.

I did watch it all.  I know he survived, because he was talking about it, but it never explained how badly he was injured.  Maybe it locked up before finishing.

 I'll watch it again.

Nope.  It's 1:20 long, and stops abruptly after he says his head got whacked.
Look, it doesn't matter.  The joke was worthy.  And the video was amazing.  And the 3 guys were amazingly idiotic, especially for "adults".
