Title: LSU Is No Penn State Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 13, 2012, 09:54:15 AM Interesting read.
Quote Less than a month ago, LSU released an interesting story that went largely unnoticed. The athletic department gave $4 million of its own money — largely earned from a Microsoft-type football program — to the university to help with a budget crisis that the school has been dealing with for years through layoffs and early retirements. Athletics also said it would take over the university's financial responsibilities of the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes at a cost of $1.5 million a year. Quote Like a Tank McNamara cartoon once said, it's great to have a school that the football program can be proud of. http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20120813/SPORTS/208130307  Title: Re: LSU Is No Penn State Post by: ricky023 on August 13, 2012, 11:42:12 AM Wow! Less miles and idling to help out. I have to give kudos for something I know nothing about. The Athletic Department is helping out in a problem. Well it fooled me because it was LSU. RTR!
Title: Re: LSU Is No Penn State Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 13, 2012, 01:21:54 PM I get somewhat riled when I read that the athletic department "gave" money to the university. Without the university, there would be no athletic department. The athletic department is giving back what it owes to the university, in my opinion. The university is bigger than the athletic department and more important.

The university is bigger than the athletic department and more important. I know. Several years ago I served on an oversight board at a university. The school claimed their "university funds" and "athletic funds" were totally separate. They were ... EXCEPT the university money paid for all maintenance, cleanup, preparation, etc for the games, and much more. I also hate when I hear such crap. >:( Title: Re: LSU Is No Penn State Post by: ALTideUp on August 13, 2012, 05:14:05 PM I get somewhat riled when I read that the athletic department "gave" money to the university.
