Title: Alabama's Bobby Wyatt is U.S. Amateur medalist; ties scoring mark
Post by: pmull on August 15, 2012, 09:03:54 AM
The college golf season ended 2 1/2 months ago and Alabama men and women golfers continue to make headlines. We have a college golf powerhouse at Alabama right now and it looks like we are only going to get better.

The University of Alabama golfer, who is rated No. 1 in the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings, shot a two-day score of 9-under-par 132 to win by two shots in the 315-player field. Wyatt shot a 2-under 68 at par-70 CommonGround Golf Club Tuesday, a day after he posted a 7-under 64 at par-71 Cherry Hills County Club. The performance makes Wyatt the top seed as the tournament is reduced to 64 players and the format shifts to match play. He is No. 7 in the current World Amateur Golf Rankings, a ranking that will likely improve after this week.
