Good luck to both. Who ever wins this match needs to go ahead and win it all. The US Amateur is a nice win to have on your resume.
Quote Mobile's Bobby Wyatt picked up another victory in the U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club outside Denver, Colo., Thursday morning. Wyatt, the No. 1 seed based on his record-tying stroke-play qualifying score, defeated No. 32 seed Matthew Stieger of Australia 2 up in the second round of match play. The victory sends Wyatt to the third round where he will face University of Alabama teammate Justin Thomas Thursday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. Thomas, the No. 16 seed, defeated No. 17 seed Max Homa of Valencia, Calif., 3&1 Thursday morning. The winner of today's Wyatt-Thomas match advances to the quarterfinals on Friday. It was back and forth on the front nine but Thomas got the upper hand on the back nine. The link below has their score cards for the day.
Watts had a great tournament. I'm glad he is coming back to UA next year. He and Thomas will anchor a very strong team next year. He has made the quarter-finals (final 4). A win tomorrow and he will reach the finals on Sunday. Both players that play the final day qualify for the US Open and Masters.

To qualify for the U S Open and Masters as the prize for winning the tournament is unmeasurable in what it is worth to his career.

I don't know of any amount of money that would compare to qualifying for the 2 biggest majors in pro golf.
