Looks like slim pickings this week.  Some obvious choices would be:

Alabama-Western Kentucky (of course)
Florida-Texas A&M
Georgia-Missouri

Miss. State - Boogs

Having our picks on TV makes the games more interesting to watch. JMHO

Do we want to pick the Alabama game?  I find that I can never pick against Bama, regardless of what the point spread is.  We could be -98 against LSU and I would still pick Bama.  It seems like a conflict of interest.

I just went back and looked at last years games.  Alabama was the correct pick every week except for 2:  North Texas and the first LSU game.  We beat North Texas 41-0, but still didn't cover.

LOL!! Hey, it's still fun to pick and watch these games. I find the Texas A&M/Florida, Missouri/Georgia, and Penn State/Virginia to be especially very interesting from a fan standpoint.

If we don't include W Ky, then what does the margin of victory matter?  I still think it's better than Vandy, New Mexico, or Miami.

I think we need to include the Bama game. Will they cover the spread? I doubt it. But I really don't care in this case. I'll choose them anyway

That is a good list.  11 games and no Alabama.  So are you coming out against picking the Bama game?  Get it down to 10 games and we may just go with that.

Why the interest in UT v. New Mexico -- do you get the Longhorn Network? Vandy- Northwestern is listed for the Big Ten Network aside from being a sucky game.

Texas has been struggling with Coach Mack Brown and New Mexico has made improvement and has Bob Davie as coach. If Brown loses, he could be in major trouble as head coach. It's more about the ramifications the game could have and the problems Texas has had in recent years which makes it interesting to me. Vandy is an SEC team and Northwestern is Big Ten, which makes it interesting and another opportunity for the SEC to beat the Big Ten. Want to know why I picked K. State/Miami?

K. State is #22 in AP Poll & Miami is trying to make a statement. Could be interesting game.

Seems I had to sit through 1 unranked, non-also rec'g votes game with Miami already. Maybe that big win (gave up 31 to BC) will get them to the also rec'g vote status. But if you are excited about it, then so am I.

Last year 22 people picked Alabama to cover against North Texas.  Only 3 people did not.  So it really doesn't change the outcome of the contest by much if almost the whole forum picks the same way.  I guess most people just can't pick against Alabama no matter what.

Virginia is a 10 point favorite over Penn State. How the mighty have fallen! However, UVA was 8-5 last year.

I thought the same thing. No doubt, the state of Virginia would have had some of their young boys raped by that animal. Unlike Penn State & Joe Paterno, Virginia would have blown the whistle on him.

Naw. But I edited my score way down (and ttl off) due to weather forecasts.

Come to think of it, my score (38-3) was closer to reality than my yardage pick.  I'll take any little victory in the pick-em contests.

I didn't do nearly this well in my ESPN pick'em last week.  I picked them on different days so obviously I was a little smarter one day than the other.

I am going to try something a little different with the prizes this time.  Instead of getting 25 e-creds for first place, etc., everyone will get 1 e-cred for each person they beat, minimum of 10 e-creds.  So HL will get 29 e-creds.  ricky came in last and will get 10, along with the rest of the guys at the bottom.  This way everyone gets a little something, and the prizes go up if you win out over a big crowd.  After all it is harder to beat 40 guys than it is to beat 20.

Man, I love getting ecreds for my lousy picks.  I've already assumed the role of a mid-major, just trying to pick off a few of the superior pickers on any given week.

It takes effort to think about the games and give it your best shot, and the more people who participate, the more fun it is for everyone.  I'm sure you will be at the top of the list some weeks.

Well picking losers throws everybody off, but this week I picked more winners than I did the losers than ain't right. What if? Just what if? I picked everyone of them correct one week? Heart attacks would abound. lol, RTR!
