Title: Jim Bunch: Coach Bryant's "big mistake"
Post by: kd2011 on September 03, 2012, 12:08:20 PM
Jim Bunch was one of the best offensive linemen of the ultra-successful wishbone age. Bunch, Crimson Replay's Player of the Week, recalls his first start in 1976 and how Coach Bryant handled the situation.

My memory may be a little fuzzy (too many years and beers) but I want to say Bunch was a black belt. Mechanicsville, VA?  ???

My favorite memory of Bunch was when the All SEC Barn D-lineman sent him a note before the Iron Bowl that said “Pack a lunch Bunch”.
Well Bunch cleaned up the floor of Legion Field with him all day. After the game Bunch went up to him and handed him a sack lunch.
Bunch made All American that year.
