Title: "Arkansas loss a good thing for Alabama" Cecil Hurt

Quote
In one stunning evening, one of the biggest games on the Alabama football schedule has become one of the most mysterious.

There was no safer bet on the Crimson Tide schedule, one would have thought, than facing an undefeated Arkansas team. The Razorbacks opened with Jacksonville State and Louisiana-Monroe and, assumption being what it is, no one imagined an upset. One can almost visualize Nick Saban, fresh off a diatribe that specifically included Lousiana-Monroe because of its 2007 victory in Tuscaloosa, nodding his head, wryly smiling and saying, "That's why you never assume."

Suddenly, the dynamic has changed - but not the danger. That is especially true if Razorback quarterback Tyler Wilson can overcome the unspecified "above the shoulder" injury. If Wilson is healthy enough to play, and clear-headed enough to practice, he gives Arkansas at least some chance. ...

The film that I watched of the game indicated the "above the shoulder" injury should have been above the chin injury. Wilson really took some shots and I wonder if there were any penalties from some of the hits that he took, if not there should have been.

I thought we should have been penalized last year for some of the late hits we gave Wilson in Tuscaloosa.  They were borderline, at best.

Tyler Wilson has suffered concussions before (against New Mexico 2011), so Arky will have to consider his health seriously before putting him back out there this weekend.  There is renewed concern over effects of concussions now, so it'll raise eyebrows (or wrath) if he plays.  I think we'll beat them handily either way, so I hope they protect him from the chance of further injury.  I don't want any blame to fall on us (for a late or severe hit).

I agree.

their Back up was not Kyle Frasier bad, he was ok. but the WR's were never open and the play calling was horrible.

I don't see how Arky's loss is good for Bama, and Cecil never explains that either.

This may come as sacrilege to some, but IMO, Cecil has been mailing about 90% of his articles in lately.  He still has a knack for turning a clever phrase or expressing a bit of sarcastic wit once or twice in each piece, but the overall concepts in his commentary have become unoriginal and uninsightful of late.

Maybe his point was lost in the editing, but I agree, not much insight here.

Is he referring to the loss of the QB?  (I haven't read the article yet).
