Title: Changes at the Top
Post by: ALTideUp on September 22, 2012, 09:03:06 AM
Today's games feature #3 Oregon against 22nd ranked AZ, and #4 ranked FSU against 10th ranked Clemson. With an impressive win will either team jump AL or LSU?  If so will the remain games allow both to regain 1 and 2 by the end of the season? Discuss.

No way Oregon would. If FSU just dominates Clemson, they may move to #2, although probably unlikely. No way either one passes us for #1 with all the hype we have right now.

I think we remain #1 regardless of what FSU, Oregon, etc...do. At this point, the only way we lose that ranking is if we lose, period. Even if we only win by 1 point against LSU, we still keep the spot.

Most definitely. After Abarn beats LSU, LSU drops and Auburn reappears in the Top Ten with Chiznik the leading candidate for Coach of the Year.

I don't think 1 and 2 will change this week unless they manage to stink it up on the field.  If FSU blows out Clemson, then everybody will just say that Clemson was overrated and think back to their bowl game when they gave up all those points (70+).  A big win over Arizona would not be that impressive either.

I don't think as long as Alabama and LSU stay undefeated they are not going to fall. Just look at it, in November you have #1 vs #2. I don't know if everybody has a loss than the loser might stay at number 2. RTR!

I believe Oregon will jump LSU. I wouldn't be surprised if they fell to 4. They played badly and couldn't score against a team that gave up 30+ to ULM.

I agree.  I will probably drop them down further than that on my ballot.

I am giving LSU a break since they got teabagged.  My issue is with WVU moving up after giving up 21 to a team that William and Mary held to 7. Also ND and others getting credit for beating a team that we laid waste to in week one. Same with Rutgers over Arky. When we beat 'em they tend to stay beat. FSU over Clemson? Pass out the "Honk if You've Beat Clemson" bumper stickers.

I'm definitely going to give some love to K State after beating Okey at their own place. I have to believe LSU falls in the polls. They will in mine after a pathetic showing against the barn. I'm not all that with FSU, either. Talking heads had hyped up what a great "D" FSU had. Clemson exposed that. Anyway, I think it will be Alabama and Oregon #1 and #2.

I think Georgia and USCe also looked good.  The SECCG should be between two highly ranked teams this year.

LSU didn't look great, but the Barn usually plays them tough.  Still, I would drop them to 4 or 5.  Several teams were impressive this weekend, including Oregon, Georgia, USCe (if you ignore the mistakes)...  Florida State looked good, but not great.  All the talking heads talked about Saturday morning was FSU's No. 1 defense, and it was exposed last night against Clemson.  So I wouldn't more FSU up.

The best looking teams I saw yesterday were Alabama, Oregon, UGA, USCe, K State and Florida.

I'm still not sold on Florida, especially after beating a bad Tennessee & Kentucky. Vandy would look great against Florida Atlantic, so I am ignoring that practice game.
