Title: Alabama quarterbacks AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims set to battle in first scrimma
Post by: pmull on April 02, 2011, 07:29:09 AM
TUSCALOOSA -- After two weeks of practice, Alabama should get some tangible evidence today to determine how much progress has occurred this spring.

There's already enough practice film to overwhelm Steven Spielberg. But what about cold, hard statistics? Pass completions, rushing yardage, tackles and field goals will all be accounted for in the battle for positions.

And, of course, more film.

In today's scrimmage, a select few will be allowed to witness the quarterback battle between redshirt sophomore AJ McCarron and redshirt freshman Phillip Sims. This is their chance to show they can run the huddle, master plays from scrimmage and display their talent in game situations, minus any potential hits.

Which one of these guys is going to step up and win the starting job? What do you guys think?

I think Mr. Sims is a #1A and AJ may start but Sims has the possiblity of coming in on the 3rd play from scrimmage or vice versa. RTR!

My gut feeling is that Sims is going to win the job.  I just think AJ takes too many risks for an Alabama offense.  CNS doesn't like to take unnecessary risks.  However I will fully and wholeheartedly support whoever wins, and I'm not really rooting for either of them over the other.

What a great position to be in.

I ain't rooting for either one myself. The best one will win the job. If we thought AJ was a power and Sims wins the job, he must be a real time power. RTR!
