Title: QB scrimmage play questions
Post by: hscoach on April 03, 2011, 11:33:13 AM
For those who got to see the first scrimmage, which QB looked the best in your opinion?  Also, I see both AJC and PS had ints.  Were the balls off the recs hand, bad throws or bad routes.  Also who really stood out in your opinion?
Thanks for the info.

Morning, HSCoach.
Hope we can get answers.  The scrimmage was closed to media and public, but maybe someone knows, or knows someone who knows.

Good Morning,
Thanks, I read the article and looks like a ball or two may have been forced.  Just reading between the lines.

From one of the scrimmage reports yesterday:  “Basically both quarterbacks split time, they totally split time,” Saban said. “They both took reps with the ones, they both took reps with the twos."  So, it appears their opportunities would pretty even with and against the 1s.

I calculated the QB ratings for each using the NCAA standards and got this:
Sims= 66.66+33-1.32+63= 161.34 QB rating
AJ= 54.54 +29.997-6.06+48.048= 126.525 QB rating

Strictly looking at QB rating and not the game variables or (often times coaching induced) scenarios which forced those situations it would appear that Team Sims one the day.

Also, reported that one of Sims INTs was a deflected ball.

It does seem like we are in for quite the QB battle. I just hope the fans don't get too stupid with it and start crap about the QB's.
I hope we can just watch both young men grow and mature so that both are ready at any given time.

From what I see it looks like AJ has some catching up to do. I want the best QB running our team. RTR!

I trust CNS will make the right decision when he's ready.

He recruited them both, so he believes they have the talent to be the one.

I'll be screaming myself hoarse no matter who it is.

Roll Tide!

I saw a post practice video and Saban said both managed the game well but they both also made some poor decisions on the interceptions. He said overall he was pleased with both QBs.
