Title: BR: THe 25 Most Beloved Figures in Tide History
Post by: MDB Tide Roll on April 04, 2011, 10:45:06 PM
Beloved sports figures means many things. It could mean the players was great, it could mean he was just admired for other things other than his sport or maybe it just means he was loved for who he was and the circumstances of his destiny with a team.

While I'm sure a twenty year old's list would differ from a man in his seventies, this is a list of who I as a writer, a fan myself (in advancing years) and an alumni would give.

Great article. I cannot argue with a single player on there. Other additions could also include Van Tiffin, Jay Barker, John Hannah, Derrick Thomas.

All of those definitely should be there.  I would add Julio, too.

I think you have to add Bart Starr as well. Would you add David Palmer? There's just so many, it's hard to count them all. Bama has so many great players in its history. That's why our tradition is unmatched in any sport at any university. Bama always has and always will stand alone at the pinnacle of great programs. It's not bragging, it's just a fact. No other school in any sport can match the tradition of greatness that is Alabama football. Roll Tide.
