Florida's offense is anemic so far.

Florida's punter is doing a good job of giving LSU bad field position.

Pick by Florida.  Maybe with a short field they can actually get close to scoring.

Mettenburger does not look any better than George Jefferson.

I guess one point lead wasn't enough , 13 yard plenty then 7 more points ...
just to be sure ...

Stick a fork in LSU. They are mentally beat.

UF is taking some luster off of our game with LSU

Florida is a much better second half team than first half team so far this year.  They're doing the same thing to LSU that they did to Texas A&M.  I still think Florida gets beat by Georgia and/or USCe.  I wouldn't worry about our SoS too much.  If When we get to the SECCG and beat the east champion, I think the SoS will take care of itself.

LSU is not disciplined.  I thought it would catch up with them earlier than it did last year.  This year, they don't have all the athletes they did last year, though.

Two things I've learned so far this week in football.

1.Matt Barkley/USC are far from being a very good team.
2. Mettenberger is a pretty lousy QB.

This game and the Notre Dame one had passes being thrown blatantly out of the field with no receiver in sight. Officials used to call this regularly but you never see it called now.

I think if it crosses the line of scrimmage and the QB is outside of the tackle box then it is not a penalty.

One thing I did notice is that LSU lost 2-3 players during the game, including two LBs.  It was when the linebackers went out that the game turned; Florida was able to run the ball against the backups.  Of course, Florida tried pounding it all game, and that may have had something to do with it too.

One of those LB's (Miner) came back. The second one (K Alexander) did not. He is a true freshman from Oxford. Alabama backed off him when he tore up a knee in the middle of the high school season last year. I bet he is out for the year. I was surprised LSU was starting a true freshman at LB to begin with. Their depth is not near where it has been. They have had a lot of injuries. On defense they will be good if they can get healthy. On offense they will not get better until they get good QB play. They need a decent QB as bad as the barn.

Good point, CP. I wondered the same thing. Was it due to the LB's going down or was the "D" just worn out. I really think most of it was due to the former. That's when UF started having success running it up the middle.

I think HSC gave another circumstance when the "D" was within two steps? BUMP FOR HSC.

I think it was some of both. The new LB's should not have been tired but they were out of position. The DL looked gased and that puts more pressure on the LB's.

Great point.  And on LSU's depth being surprisingly thin.  Between the injuries and lack of depth on D, and still lacking a QB on O, LSU does not look to be as dangerous this year.  Stack the box and make ZM pass it, and if you can run the ball, you can beat LSU at their own game, which is what Florida did.

I don't see anyone on our schedule that can threaten us if we stay focused and avoid the entitled attitude.  Mississippi State may be the toughest game in the regular season.  I hope the team doesn't think the same thing and relax now that we don't have a heavy weight "game of the century" on the schedule.
