Title: Brandon Gibson Ready To Step Up
Post by: crtuneman on April 05, 2011, 03:58:51 PM
Good article about Brandon. I really hope he makes an impact this year. He seems like a great guy. And he could really be a leader.

No sooner did Julio Jones decide to leave the University of Alabama a year early for NFL riches than Crimson Tide fans began to wonder just which wide receiver would get some, or all, of Jones' playing time. But while younger players such as Kenny Bell, who scored two touchdowns in UA's scrimmage Saturday, Kevin Norwood and DeAndrew White may be the center of water-cooler talk, Gibson isn't one to be forgotten.

Nor is he one to be deterred by doubters.

Thanks, SC. I am honored that I made the front page.  :D I was hoping Gibson might have more of a role last year to take some pressure off of JJ, but it never happened. I think it was because our offense was not in sync, mainly because of Oline problems. I will be surprised if Gibson does not step into JJ's position this year as a starter. We will see.

I really thought Gibson would break through last year as well.

But, it never happened.  Unfortunately, I think it is a case if (like Tyler Love and Goode) that if it hasn't happened yet, it probably is going to happen.

He may see a bigger part as a role player, but the talent at WR is incredible.  I do beleive he could serve as a great leader for the group, but the one that is more inspirational.

I think Bowman is destined for the majority of JJ's snaps, but overall, I think we'll see much more WR'ing by committee to take advantage of fresh legs and the diverse talent that we have.

I remember when Gibson was recruited and signed up we all went crazy. I'm not sure why he hasn't stepped up yet but this is his year to make it or break it. RTR!
