Title: Coach Bobby Knight Selling Championship Rings & More
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 15, 2012, 08:37:52 PM
After all those years as a head coach and working on television, he doesn't have enough money? What am I missing?

Hall of Famer Bob Knight is selling his championship basketball rings and Olympic gold medal for what he considers a very good reason: the education of his grandchildren.

A collection of the former coach's memorabilia will be auctioned by Steiner Sports Memorabilia. It's part of a sale that features the jersey Yankees pitcher Don Larsen wore while pitching a perfect game in the World Series.

The article did not say he was broke. Basketball coaches did not make the real big money until recently but they were still paid well. His time at Texas Tech alone should have set him up pretty good. He has been a regular on ESPN college basketball since he retired from coaching. I don't know where his money went but he is selling some items I would never part with.

He cares more about stuff Ted Williams gave him than 3 NC rings and an Olympic medal. Strange mindset for such great accomplishments.

I don't know, Coach Bryant cared more about the ring the Junction Boys gave him than any of the national championship rings.

True, but he didn't try to sell them. Plus, those Junction rings were part of his legacy.

I can tell you I find it very hard to believe he is anywhere near broke
he paid a very good friend of mine to take him fishing and he tipped
very well at the end of the day .
he didn't fork out that kind of money to go fishing if he
is hurting for cash ...

btw , he is a beast with a fly rod  :worship:
