Title: New article about battle for LT spot Post by: MDB Tide Roll on April 06, 2011, 07:54:45 PM Quote To see Aaron Douglas and Alfred McCullough standing together on the University of Alabama practice field, someone unfamiliar with the Crimson Tide's left tackle position might never guess the two are competing for the same job. At 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds, Douglas is long enough and lean enough to pass for a tight end. McCullough, at 6-2 and 311 pounds, looks more like a guard than a tackle, and in fact has practiced some at guard in his career. Whether or not either fit the ideal mold, however, matters little. What matters more is that one of them will likely exit spring drills as the Crimson Tide's most reliable option at the most crucial position on the offensive line. http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1208939 Title: Re: New article about battle for LT spot Post by: cbbama99 on April 06, 2011, 08:06:09 PM I think this is the position that has concerned me the most in this coming season, more than even quarterback. Whoever plays LT is going to have a lot of pressure on him to keep defenders off the backs of new QBs. We get solid play at this position, we have a monstrous offense.

She's an LT magnet. Let's make her an assistant coach. I've been worried about the drop-off we saw when Fluker was out last year and McCullough filled in at RT. Title: Re: New article about battle for LT spot Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 06, 2011, 11:21:25 PM I think Douglas wins the LT slot. He's got the experience and at his size, he would be a natural. I just can't see a 6'2" 300 left tackle. Maybe Tyler Love makes a run at it.

He's still being withheld from practice due to a concussion. I think one of the other two is going to lock it down before he gets a chance. Here's the link to the Wed practice notes that mention Tyler still being held out. http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1208879 Title: Re: New article about battle for LT spot Post by: ricky023 on April 07, 2011, 10:32:02 AM I think whichever one wins the job, just think what a great replacement we have. We won't miss a beat if something happens which we hope not. RTR!
Title: Re: New article about battle for LT spot Post by: JohnCarlisle on April 07, 2011, 12:22:05 PM At first I thought that Douglas was just not as good as Saban thought he would be. But after reading about this battle for the last couple weeks, I'm starting to believe that McCullough has just really stepped up his game. :D
