Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... Post by: SUPERCOACH on October 21, 2012, 05:06:40 PM It seems like it would be televised nationally, probably by CBS. Right now it is showing as TBD.
Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... Post by: pmull on October 21, 2012, 05:44:42 PM I can't help with with a Bama sports bar to watch the game in Philly. However, I used to travel more than I do now. Ask the hotel desk or concierge (if they have one) for local sports bars. Call to make sure they have plenty of TV's and they will dedicate one to the Iron Bowl. I have even gotten the hotel airport shuttle bus to give me a free ride to the bar and took a cab home. Philly should have some very nice sports bars.
In 1992 I was in Chicago for the Tenn game. The hotel recommended Ditka's Sports Bar. I was by myself and they set me up on a TV in the corner. Everyone else was watching Big 10 games. I was getting a little tipsy and started to cheer a little bit louder than I should have. I had most of the bar watching the 4th qtr with me while we beat UT. It was one of the most fun times I have ever had watching a game on TV. Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... If I were in Philly my day would have to include a cheesesteak(s). Pat's in the Historical District is where to start. Here is a link to a guy in Pennsylvania that probably knows. The alumni association guys from Philly used to come to our NYC chapter functions but I don't remember any of our members going there. BTW, it makes no difference to them if you are actually an alumnus. But I promise they'll be tickled to help you out. You can also spread the CRS word while you are there.http://alumlive.ua.edu/chapters#pennsylvania (use dir. information for Brubaker) Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... Post by: SUPERCOACH on October 22, 2012, 03:36:31 PM Be sure to let us know how it works out.
Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... Post by: rueben on October 23, 2012, 07:50:28 AM Be sure to let us know how it works out. I will! I was in a rush the other day, so here are some other tidbits of info I left out. We are staying with in-laws ( I am gonna do my best "Cousin Eddie" rendition while there). So I will have access to TV's during game time. I have a niece who is a H.S. senior whom I have turned into a huge Bama fan, so I want to make sure that her and I can watch the game together. ( I just don't think it would be very cool to turn her into a Bama fan, go to visit her during the Iron Bowl, and then leave her at the house to go watch the game at a bar). So I am hoping to find a sports pub / restaurant that allows the "under 21" crowd in. If not we'll watch the game at their house... Not sure yet who's house we will actually be at that weekend. Either the Brother In Law's house in Philly, or the other ones lake house in Maryland. Title: Re: Where to Watch the Iron Bowl In.... Places like Wings or respectable sports bars/pubs. You can drink a beer and order her up a soft drink & cheeseburger and you are all set to watch Bama beat the daylights out of the barn. Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on October 23, 2012, 08:33:35 AM Hey, rueb, I PM'd NJRollTide over on the other site (since he's from near Philly in South Jersey) and asked him about this. He said he wasn't aware of anywhere that there was a big Bama gathering and had been trying to find one for a while. He did say he could point you to a good sports bar where you could watch the game if you let him know what area you'd be in. Apparently he's very familiar with Philly. Heck, you guys might could meet up somewhere.
