Title: "Hot and Not in the SEC"

Hot and Not in the SEC
Our weekly check of who’s hot and who’s not in the SEC:

GLOWING EMBERS

Alabama-LSU rivalry: It’s become the best rivalry in college football and the rivalry that means the most each year in the national championship race. Saturday’s matchup in Baton Rouge will be the third time these two teams have met in the last 12 months. They’re deadlocked at 3-3 in their last six meetings, although Alabama won 21-0 in the BCS National Championship Game to cap the 2011 season.

It won't be such a nice rivalry in a few more years now that Bama has embarked on a period of domination.

LSU should get our full attention which is not good for LSU. They have a Top 5 defense but their offense is no better than last year, maybe not as good. LSU will be ready to play and Lester will pull out all his tricks but if we play well I don't see LSU having much of a chance. I think LSU keeps it close but we win 27-13.

I think the offense they had last year is better than the one they have now.  I just don't see how they are going to score any points against us, unless we give it to them with a turnover or something.  If they score at all it will probably be with their defense or special teams.

I don't think they are going to lay down and play dead. Their defense is good enough to set up some short field situations. I think the defenses are close but I give us the edge. Our offense is light years better than theirs. The kicking game gives me the following concerns:

1. They have a good punter who can flip the field and pen up deep. Their defense is tough to drive the length of the field.
2. We are giving up big kickoff returns. Foster was not able to get the ball to the end zone against Miss State.
3. Can we make a long field goal. Foster looked good on kickoffs and long FG early in the year. He has gone backwards in the last few games. We seems to not be following though with his kicks again.
4. I like Cyrus Jones returning kicks. However, LSU does not allow many punts to be returned.

It is a rivalry game and we will get their best shot. 27-13 Bama.
