Title: This concerns me about A&M Post by: hscoach on November 06, 2012, 08:15:03 PM There are a few things that concern me about the upcoming A&M game. First, the bad angles some of the players were taking the last game. Maybe they underestimated the speed of #33. This QB had the potential to take it to the house with his speed. Second, missed tackles. Also refer to the first about players being able to take it all the way. Third, this Qb can throw better than TT and I don't see a dominat pass rush. I hope, with him being a freshman, Bama can utilize the blitz and get too him. Fourth, is Bama going to leave VS in pass coverge? I think he is a liability here. The good news is I don't see them having the fullback/power running game LSU has.
Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: Old Tider on November 06, 2012, 11:12:54 PM Good (frightening) points here, Coach. I'm encouraged by the way our defense handles super quarterbacks. A&M has been up and down, impressive scores but also beating Ole Miss by only 3 and a poor Louisiana Tech by 2.
Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 07, 2012, 09:47:14 AM I am not too concerned since we opened the season with Michigan this year. They spent quite a bit of time working on containing a mobile QB back in August. I think AJ will carve them up when we have the ball.
Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: Catch Prothro on November 07, 2012, 10:16:57 AM Well I'm a bit worried after that LSU game. Don't know if my heart can take another nail biter. :o
Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: McBaman on November 07, 2012, 10:33:02 AM Bama's time of possession was 20-mins vs. LSU. We need to get to around 35 mins at least vs. aTm. That will keep Johnny, and our D, off the field. Truly a case of the best defense being a good, ball controlling, offense.
Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 07, 2012, 11:32:30 AM Let's also not forget that the LSU defense is comparable to ours. We will not see another defense like that until we play them again next year. I think we win the TOP battle easily against aTm.

We will not see another defense like that until we play them again next year. I think we win the TOP battle easily against aTm. TAMU has a pretty stout line, especially on O, and played toe-to-toe with LSU and Florida. I don't think we can waltz right through them. Hopefully AJ has a better game and keeps them from stacking the box.Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: hscoach on November 07, 2012, 11:43:38 AM I am not too concerned since we opened the season with Michigan this year. Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: hscoach on November 07, 2012, 11:45:23 AM The other concern is the emotional drain from LSU along with the physicality of the game.

This is my biggest concern. We could come out focused sharper than ever after surviving the close call, or we could be just too exhausted to compete at that high of a level again this week. We won't know which one it is going to be until game time. But CNS has already addressed this with the players in the locker room after the LSU game, so I think they will be ready. Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: ricky023 on November 07, 2012, 01:59:13 PM I also have a concern is all this Media business about how the Tide will beat TA&M, this swells heads. It almost got us beat last week. This kid QB from TA&M is a great football player or he would not be eating up the yardage like he is. Lanes and duties are going to be our problems and flipping the field on special teams.
We really need to get this game out of reach and let the 1st team rest as much as possible, but I am afraid that is not going to be the case. All the points on the pick'em board, I don't think Alabama will win by that much but knowing that, how can I pick against Alabama? I can't. RTR! Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: McBaman on November 09, 2012, 03:53:11 PM Well here we are on Friday afternoon, and what do we all think now?? I get the sense that the team has had a pretty good week of practice, and that they realized they played not-so-well on both sides of the ball vs. LSU, and were fortunate to win the game. So I'm guessing (hoping) they will come out with something to prove to themselves on Sat vs. aTm.
This time of year I'm always worried about injuries. So one piece of good news was that we came out of LSU no worse than we went in. Assuming we get by aTm OK, I hope CNS gives the team an extra day off next week. Going back to the Mizzou game, this has been a pretty long, tough slog. Hopefully LSU shook out that mental fatigue and the boys show up ready on Saturday, because after this they have a couple of cupcakes (just don't tell Saban). This time of year I'm always worried about injuries. Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: pmull on November 09, 2012, 05:36:34 PM What concerns me about this game is Johnny Football's health. He may not make it through this game. I think Bama cover the spread with ease.

That sounds about right.Title: Re: This concerns me about A&M Post by: carl childers on November 10, 2012, 11:40:20 AM The other concern is the emotional drain from LSU along with the physicality of the game. This is one thing I have never understood. These are great athletes who train harder than anyone else, and they are 18-23 years old. Plus, physically, they have had a week to recover. They will not be drained physically, and frankly, I believe they are tired of hearing about "Johnny Football". Bama wins big. These kids are under a ton of pressure to be perfect. They don't really have a week to recover either. Practice is not a cakewalk. I think I heard recently that they finish every practice with about 20 plays of the first team O against the first team D. That is about a quarter of football at the end of practice. But I think Johnny Football is going to run in to a brick wall this afternoon. I hope he survives the collision relatively healthy. |
