Title: Saban.....We Couldn't Get the Mental Energy, Intensity We Needed

Good article. Scroll down and read the other articles, too.

All week long, when pundits discussed the chances of Texas A&M upsetting Alabama, they invariably pointed to the emotional toll the Tide’s win over LSU last weekend as something that could swing the game in the Aggies’ favor.

In the aftermath of A&M’s stunning upset of the No. 1 team in the country, and at least to some extent, the Tide’s head coach agreed.

I agree with most of the article. What I like most is that we have so many on the 2 deep coming back.

Many of us on this board were worried about the emotional toll of the LSU game, and as it turns out rightfully so.  I thought by the end of the week that the guys had overcome it and were in a good frame of mind for aTm, but I was r-o-n-g wrong.

To some degree, this is a consequence of conf expansion.  There is one harder SEC game than in past years.  And if the conf adds another conf game to the mix in future years, the road to the NC game for any SEC team will be hard.

I hope we don't go to a 9 game conference schedule, but I think that is where we are headed. It would make scheduling a little easier, because each side would have to play tougher conference foes  I don't like it that is where we are.

That would force east teams to play more teams from the west and vice versa. Tv would like it because better match ups than what we have this week.

Another way to frame this argument is by calling the addition of more conference games a direct affront to the smaller, less talented schools (such as Western Carolina) and their players.

Give A&M credit for playing a good game. However, there is no getting around we came out flat and spotted them 20 pts. We have a big target on our back and we get everyone's best shot each week. We played poorly, had three turnovers, missed scoring opportunities and still almost won the game. Most teams would have been blown out.

I don't like to lose and there is no such thing as a moral victory. With that said I like where CNS has our program. Since 2008 we have not lost to a team outside the Top 10. We have a 57-7 record with a winning percentage of 90%. This team still will win the SEC West and play UGA for the SEC Championship. CNS has spoiled us so that only a National Championship is good enough. We are not out of the national championship picture but we need help. An SEC championship and BCS Bowl is still ours for the taking.

Bama fans should not be down on this team. There is still plenty to play for.

Correct, pmull.... There is still plenty to play for.  An SEC championship is no small thing.

BINGO!! Plus, the season ain't over yet. We are #4 and Notre Dame still has to play Wake Forest & USC, Oregon has to play Oregon State & Stanford, & K. State plays Baylor & Texas. We are still VERY alive to play for the NC. I think ND & Oregon are both primed for an upset.

Absolutely right, my friend. I think as we all saw last year, ANYTHING can happen in those last weeks of the season. All Bama can do now is focus on what it CAN control: beat WCU, beat the barn, and then beat the dawgs in the SEC title game.
