Title: Kent State loses to N. Illinois in Double Overtime Post by: Catch Prothro on December 01, 2012, 06:58:02 AM http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=323352309
So now they're talking about the possibility of N. Ill. in a BCS game instead of Kent State? I don't get the rule that lets in a top 16 team from a small conference when a top 5 team from the SEC gets left out. Really, these schools need to be undefeated with their weak schedules, and at least make the top 10. When Utah and TCU joined real conferences, they went from being virtually undefeated every year to middle-of-the-road AQ schools in their own conference. Both N. Illinois and Kent State have very weak schedules with one loss against teams that stunk it up in their own conferences. Kent State was blown out by Kentucky. Northern Illinois lost to Iowa, which is 4-8 (2-6 in the Big10). These are not teams that deserve a BCS berth. At least Boise State would play one tough game a year. These two teams haven't bothered. So anyway, despite Lou Holtz and Saban attending Kent State, I was glad to see them lose because they were closer to getting in than N. Ill., and either team getting in would be a joke. A much bigger joke than, say, Georgia Tech having to beat Florida State to get in -- at least they would have beaten someone. Anyway, that's my daily rant. This isn't basketball. Playing in a tough conference, week-in and week-out, means something. Title: Re: Kent State loses to N.
