We out gained them 512 to 394. We had 26 first downs to their 18. We held the ball 37:35 to their 22:25. The difference was turnovers. We had a fumble on our end of the field that did not lead to points. We threw an INT in the end zone that would have been an easy 3 pts. We get a field goal blocked and returned for a TD. That was a 10 pt swing. UGA had one turn over just before the half that lead to a Field goal. UGA got their first TD by executing a well designed fake punt. In almost the exact position we take too much time and get a delay flag and had to punt. I am extremely happy to win the game but we hurt ourselves time after time. We almost beat ourselves again. Potentially, we left 10-17 points on the field & gave away 7 on the blocked FG, that is a 24 point turnaround. In the afterglow of victory, folks have forgotten about our awful special teams play. We HAVE to get rid of Bobby Williams & find a real ST coach, he is a huge liability. :dog: Title: Re: SEC Championship Game Final Stats and Thoughts Post by: Catch Prothro on December 02, 2012, 10:08:33 AM I would like to give some props to Cade Foster on the job #+he did last night ... see the stat (http://img1.UploadScreenshot.com/images/main/12/33610005240.png) (http://www.UploadScreenshot.com/image/1711645/3549845) Title: Re: SEC Championship Game Final Stats and Thoughts Post by: Catch Prothro on December 02, 2012, 10:14:11 AM I give UGA credit for playing a very good game but after looking back over the stats this morning the game should not have been as close as it was. Georgia out-executed Bama in the first half in certain areas, especially time management. Both the fake punt, and the failure to call a timeout at the end of the first half, were execution mistakes that surprised me from this group. But then Georgia made their own time management mistake at the end of the game -- not spiking the ball. Great win for Bama, but the game shouldn't have come down to the end like that.We out gained them 512 to 394. We had 26 first downs to their 18. We held the ball 37:35 to their 22:25.
