Title: Alabama Back Home to Face Dayton (CSS 8:00)
Post by: pmull on December 05, 2012, 08:22:45 AM
Dayton beat us 72-64 last year at their place. It should be a good game. Bama needs to get this win before taking 10 days off during finals.

Quote
The Alabama men's basketball team will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season as it hosts the Dayton Flyers on Wednesday night. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum.

"We're playing a team in Dayton that is extremely impressive when you look at what they have been able to accomplish, the competition they've played against and the success that they've had over the course of the season," Grant said. "Our experience last year, at their place, and the way that turned out for us, I think our guys have a tremendous respect for Dayton and the program that they have, and [we're] looking forward to the competition here tomorrow."

The game will be televised CSS and can also be heard live on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, with Chris Stewart and Bryan Passink on the call. Fans can also follow the action on the official twitter site of Alabama men's basketball @AlabamaMBB.

This will not be an easy game. Dayton is not to bad. I do think our guys can take it, if they play up to par. CAG, schedules good teams and I like that. RTR!

Dayton has beaten Auburn and Boston College, lost to Weber State and Colorado.  This will be their first road game this season.  My money is on the Tide.

Dayton has not been out of their own gym until tonight. Most teams have at least played a neutral site game by now.

We should win but this is a good early season oppontent.

Hey great info. One thing I wonder about if there are any injuries on their team that matter? I know they have a fired up coach, I just want to see us come back and blow them away. Just not sure of it. RTR!

Bama has to figure out how to start a game faster, instead of falling behind early, then fighting to catch up. We were down early 20-9, now we have fought back to make it 25-24 Dayton.

47-40 Dayton & they are outhustling the Tide on offense. 47-44 Tide gets an ally-oop, but we give up easy dunk. 49-44 Dayton, timeout. 15:49 to play.

Coach Grant said Engstrom is out with undiagnosed injury, but Steele had sports hernia. We are playing 4 perimeter players & 1 inside guy. Dayton taking advantage of this.

Dayton is wearing us out around the basket, their point guard play is deadly, & their pushing the break is too much for us. Dayton hitting 55% from the field. 60-48 Dayton.

9:22 left in game, 64-50 Dayton. We have to play better D, maybe start pressing.

70-59 Dayton. Our shooting is atrocious, around 35%, our FT shooting is all that is keeping us in the game.

Maybe Engstrom suffering from no-hoops-a-phobia? We were outshot in our own gym. 30% shooting will get you beat every time. Off nights will happen. RTR

We got ran out of our own building by an Atlantic 10 team picked to finish 8th in the conference. We got beat in every phase of the game. The final 81-76 five point margin is misleading. Dayton took their foot off the gas with a 14 point lead with 3 minutes to play.

Dayton was quicker than we were. Our press did not phase them. In fact they beat it often and lead to lay-ups. Five or six times they out hustled us down the court and got an easy lay in. Our team can not give up 81 points and expect to win.

We only had 8 scholarship players last night. Steele and Engstrom are hurt. Jacobs is still recovering from an injury. He is not half the player so far this year he was last year. Our lack of depth and quality big man play showed up last night. Engstrom would have helped a lot. We need to get him back.

I am very disappointed with our effort last night. I hope the 10 day lay off helps us.
