Title: Chris Black was ready but never played in SECCG

Chris Black went to the Georgia Dome on Saturday expecting to play.

Shortly before the SEC Championship, Black said he met with coach Nick Saban, who relayed to him that he had confidence in the freshman wide receiver's ability to make an impact in his collegiate debut.

And then Black never played....

Alabama... didn't spread the field much against Georgia, as it used a hearty dose of running to win in thrilling fashion. The few plays Alabama did go four- or five-wide, it was redshirt freshman Marvin Shinn who primarily filled Bell's spot.

Glad to see he is smart enough to realize that there was no need to burn the redshirt. He will be a force to recon with next year.

Also good to see that he really wants to play... he's hungry.

He could still play in the Championship Game. I expect him to dress out and be ready to play. I don't think he plays unless someone like Cooper or Norwood gets hurt early and we need him to win the game. It will take an unusual circumstance for him to play and burn the redshirt.
