Quote
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron announced on Wednesday that he would return for his senior season to play for the Crimson Tide in 2013.

"I had many goals for myself when I came to the University of Alabama," McCarron said. "I have been lucky enough to achieve some of those goals, but some are still ahead of me. There were many factors in my decision to return to Alabama for my senior year but, after talking with my family and coaches, I knew it was the right choice for me.

"I love the University of Alabama, my coaches, my teammates and our fans. I am excited to have the opportunity to play with my brother (sophomore tight end Corey McCarron), continue to grow as a leader, continue to help our team win football games and develop even further as a quarterback. The NFL has long been a dream, but I think another year at Alabama can only help my chances of being successful at the next level."

Great news. I wish more early leavers would have this attitude.

He's definitely not ready for the NFL. That probably is a major reason for his decision. If he was told he was a 1st or 2nd round pick, I think he is gone.

Smart decision by AJ and obviously good for the team.  I wonder if this will cause any of the backup QB's to transfer?

I'm guessing yes.

I agree.  He must be able to throw timing routes better and put it in the small window when the opportunity presents itself, especially in big games.

“Backups? We ain’t got no backups. We don’t need no backups. I don’t have to show you any stinking backups.”

Now we just need our QB on defense to come back - CJ & AJ would provide a lot of leadership next year.
