What is CSTV? I don't think I get it on Charter Cable.  >:(

I know they are the CBS afiliate that does Gametracker.

I found it. It is on channel 303 in Decatur on Charter cable. I get hundreds of channels and that is not one of them.

Another slow start by Bama. VCU leads 6-2 with 14:00 to go in 1st half.

I found the channel on DirecTV.  It is  613.  We look terrible so far.

Bama trails 11-2. We have not hit a shot yet. Only two free throws.

I found it on Direct TV channel 613. Didn't even know I had the channel. Once again, we have started very slowly & Releford just missed TWO free throws. Tide down 11-2 with 10:28 left in first half. This is getting VERY old.

We finally got first first FG, then VCU hits 3 pointer. Randolph scores and hits FT. VCU 16-7.

We have to stop spotting teams 10-12 points each game. These slow starts are killing us.

BINGO!! I put that squarely on the coaches shoulders. Last year, a poster said he heard that Grant spends so much time on practicing defense, the players were too tired to practice shooting. I am starting to believe that. 26-7 VCU.

This is pathetic. We have 16 points with 1:11 left in half. I think we have 6 FG's. We have missed several FT's, including the front end of 1& 1. 33-18 VCU.

Talk about stinking up the first half. I got to give them this, though, they aren't giving up.

We miss not having a big man like J Green to go to in the paint. Nick Jacobs played 1 minute and did not score. Gueye hit 2 free throws. No field goals from our big guys.

Pollard is working hard, but it's easy to tell he is a freshman. If I were Grant, I'd play him a lot to gain experience. He definitely needs it.

We turned the ball over 13 times. They took 13 more shots than we did.

Lacy scored his first points of game. VCU is constantly hustling & pressuring. 38-24 VCU. we are in a big hole.

How many times have they split our defense on their end when we are standing around at the top of the key? They are really out-hustling us.

We are dribbling & passing too much, plus we are standing around waiting for them to double-team us. Grant has zero answer for what is going on. Where is our perimeter defense?

We are getting out played and out coached. I am beginning to dread the SEC schedule. We look awful.

Well, after thinking about it, I think we ran into a hot shooting team who plays a solid pressure game. Most teams would have struggled against such 3 point shooting. We played a good Cincy team close at their place. Grant has to get his team coming out to start the game being aggressive on offense. We can not continue to play 10-15 points from behind early in every game.

Final: VCU whips our azz 73-54. We should have stayed on the bus. We were never in this game.

Jacobs does not score in this game. I was expecting him to pick up the slack after Green graduated. We have no inside game other than a dribble drive from a guard.

Lacy & Jacobs were both lackadaisical & invisible during the game. Releford, Randolph, & Slaughter (later in the game) hustled constantly, Pollard & Cooper were okay. Am I missing something? Is there a problem on the team? Is Grant overrated? Am I overreacting?

I don't know. We are 0-3 in our last three games and we need a win. We looked much better earlier in the year than we do now. I am concerned about our play and our coaching at this point. We need to see improvement in all phases of the game against Texas Tech. That game is also away.

Agree. This what I am concerned about, we are failing in almost all phases of the game.

I think one other problem we have is, that the teams we are now playing are good teams and we don't scare them. These guys are probably Seniors that CAG recruited while there. I'm not sure how but we need better players. RTR!

A quick review of the stats confirm we were beat in all phases of the game.

Bama shot 39% from the floor to VCU 47%.
We got 28 rebounds (8 off) to VCU 31 (11 off). That number is close only because they shot 10 more shots than us.
We had 18 Turn overs to VCU 11.

We are on a three game lossing streak. We can take lossing a close game to Top 15 Cincinnati on their home floor. We can not allow teams like Dayton to come to our gym and beat us badly. The final 5 point margin was misleading in that game. They were up by 16 with 3 minutes to play. VCU is a good team and play better at home but we were never in the game. VCU lead by 26 with 9 minutes to play. The closest we got in the second half was 11.

We do not play tough physical basketball. We are getting beat bad in the paint. We miss Engstrom on the defensive end. He filled the lane, altered shots and gets rebounds. We also miss Steele. He is a team leader. He is 6-4 but he has a thick body. He could play the small forward and bang with the big guys and draw fouls. He was not a big scorer but he had a way of scoring a basket when we needed it. We have to find a way to replace these guys production.

Jacobs needs to get back to the level he showed as a freshman last year. He was 0-1 and did not score or get a rebound in 11 minutes of play. Gueye played 13 minutes and went 0-1 from the floor and had 2 rebounds. He hit 2 free throws. That is basically no production from our big men.

Pollard played his best game yet. He had 13 points on 5-7 shooting. He was 3-4 from from the line. He also had 8 rebounds with 3 of them being offensive rebounds.

We can not give up 73 points and expect to win. We need to hold teams in the low 60's. Dayton and VCU played a similar style of basketball as we do but they play it better. We need to improve quickly or we are looking at the NIT.

I was thinking the same thing during the game. We lost 2 guys who could bang inside and play tough under the basket. The Engstrom loss was huge for us.
