Keep a hand in the face of their shooter and limit second chance scoring. Drape their big guy and try to wear him down. Feed the hot hand on offense while not waiting until the shot clock runs down before pushing the ball to the goal. Better movement away from the ball. Don't let them relax in transition. HTH

I never thought I would say Oakland is a must win but it is. We need to go into SEC play on a high note.

Bama has an early 7-6 lead.

Andrew Steele is in the game for Bama. Glad to see him back from injury.

Bama up 16-12. Nice three pointer by Randolph and good driving layup by Releford.

Bama on a good run to take a 27-16 lead with 3 minutes in half.

Bama takes a 29-23 halftime lead.

Releford has 11 pts and Randolph has 9. Gueye has 6 rebounds and Steele 3.

BAMA up 29-23 at the half. Oakland struggling offensively with 23% from the floor (0-5 in 3s) while the Tide has shot 54%. BAMA being beaten on the boards and Oakland getting OFF REB as well, but have not cashed in.

Oakland has 19 rebounds with 9 of those offensive. Alabama has 16 rebounds wit 2 of them offensive. Oakland has taken 30 shots to our 24.

Bama is shooting 53% to Oakland's 24%.

Oakland only has 5 turnovers to our 7.

Bama up by 10, 37-27.

Bama had a 16 pt lead-- now back to 9. Obasohan and Gueye trying to give it back. >:(

Oakland has cut the Bama 16 pt lead to 9. Bama leads 45-36.

Bama builds the lead back to 17 at the under 8 minute time out. Bama leads 54-37.

4 minutes --20 pt. lead. Oakland shooting 26% (2-10 in 3s) while Bama shooting 54%/30% in 3s but only 50% at the line (6-12).

Bama wins 65-45.

Bama goes 8-5 in non-conference play. SEC season next starts with a road trip to Missouri.

The big question is will Gueye and Jacobs continue to play tough on the inside. We need them in the worst way.

The Missouri game is televised on ESPN, 6 p.m. Tuesday. 

I am not sure how good Oakland is. Their record is 7-10. Regardless it was good to see Bama play well and beat someone soundly. We rebounded, shot well and played defense. Overall good game for the Tide. The team needed a win like this.

The big guys made a difference in the game. Jacobs had 6 pts and 7 rebs while Gueye had 4 pts and 9 rebs. Jacobs is playing much better. He also played well in the last game against Mercer. Wimp Sanderson said during the game CAG told his Jacobs has been working real hard the last two weeks to step his game up.

It was good to get Andrew Steele back. He only had 2 pts and 4 rebs in 17 min but he was banging in the paint for rebounds and playing defense. We need his leadership as much as anything. He always plays hard.

We out rebounded Oakland 38 to 33. We still gave up too many offensive rebounds . Oakland had 14 off rebs to our 7. We played mostly zone defense and it is harder to box out is one reason but they also got a lot of long rebs and lose balls. Oakland took 59 shots to our 48.

Releford had 18pts, Randolph 15 and Cooper 11. Oakland played man defense all game. We handle man defense much better than a zone. Wimp kept saying Oakland needed to go to the zone but they never did. We will see a heavy dose of zone in SEC play until we show we have an inside and outside game. We shot 52% for the game while holding Oakland to 27%.

A good win for Bama. A difficult road trip to Missouri is up next on Tuesday night.

^^^ I think the Tulane game was even a better example but 2nd chance points are hurting us. Oakland got the OFF rebounds but couldn't score. But much better 'bounding effort by Jacobs, and even Gueye over the last 2 games. RTR
