Someone sent me a message with the "Jody Bashing crimsonredsports" thread.  I want to apologize to anyone who thought that I was out of line or out of control.... There are alot (and yes I know it's "a lot"..... just a dig at sssmiitth general ;)  )  of people that I respect on this forum and I'm sorry that I reacted the way I did.

It may seem that I am haboring a lot of ill feelings towards smmithh general, and he does seem like a much different person.  I am a man of God and the I have always been one to forgive and forget.... the thread about my daughter that we (I) was referring to happened years ago, but was WAY out of bounds and should have never gone to the level that it did.  He kept on and on and made me angrier and angrier.  It was EXTREMELY racist.  Once again, I should forgive and I know that Smitthh General is a different person and went through many things.  Only thing is?  I never got an apology for the harsh words he said (and they were harsh).  That being said?  I apologize.

I hope you can understand my anger towards him, but I'm a bigger, better person and should never allow that.  All is forgiven and God bless.

Welcome back Jody.  We all get angry from time to time, and it takes a big man to apologize.  I'm glad you decided to come back and I look forward to many good conversations with you in the future.

If I said anything in that topic or anywhere else that was out of line then please forgive me.

By the way, I can certainly see someone getting angry over a comment about their daughter.  I'm sure I would be just as upset.

This is not true.  5 years fogs the memory I guess.  I dont remember what the thread was about, but jody popped in and said his daughter was dating or married to a black guy.  I posted the star trek black/white dudes, some people got a laugh, I think it hairy for a while, but that was back when bamaguru was boss so I know it didnt go too far. 

Anyway, this is the first mention of this in 5 years by anyone.  Jody had a thread merged during the tree thing and attacked the mods publicly, he got a warning and PM and he attacked again and was suspended for a week.  That is why he is upset and is over here trying to undermine the moderators, which he has done successfully.

I am leaving now.  I have a real life to live and these people have been following me for 5 years.  ssmith general is dead, go on with your lives. 

Now, please do not post about me anymore.  I cant defend myself constantly against false and old attacks.

Not the best, or most heartfelt, apology I have heard, but it's a start.

It happened.  As I recall now, the issue got pretty heated.  In a forum like Tidesports, Jody probably never should have mentioned his daughter's mixed race relationship.  He is/was living in Atlanta where it is accepted. 

Most posters on Tidesports at the time were rural Alabamians.  There was some racism on the forum.  People were always making fun of Mexicans especially.

This is too serious of an issue to be talking about here....but just want to say that Jody is justified in feeling the way he does.  The things ssmithgeneral said to him were pretty hurtful.  I believe ssmithgeneral will have a hard time overcoming his past online behavior.  He made too many people angry.

Just as I will have always have a hard time overcoming the "granny" thing and my "mean spirited" ways.  Sometimes is it just better to concentrate on your real life....most of the time it is much better. ;) 

Respectfully, he could overcome it if you, and others, would simply just quit bringing it up.

And Jody could simply have never come over here just to drag up what is ancient history.  If ssmith doesn't wish to apologize, that's his business.  Not yours, mine or anyone elses.

Yes, I saw where he said goodbye to that.  I wish him the VERY BEST with his real life.  He deserves a good REAL LIFE.  We have all worked through a few problems by being online and are better people because of it.

Is it bigoted to say that rural Alabamians are racist or have racist tendencies. At what "population per square mile" does this occur? Is this phenom just in Alabama or do other states have similar problems? Would you suggest that the hicks be required to do city internships, for enlightenment and de-hatification? BTW, I agree with most else that you have posted, but I live out in the country, so my opinion should be automatically discounted. RTR  

I am a rural Alabamian and was brought up in an all white town with racist views.  I generalized I guess and was wrong I suppose.  I apologize.

I have a good friend who I heard preach a sermon at my church one night that has always stuck with me and the title of it was "Let it go!!" I've bantered about topics with both the general and Jodybaker and have nothing against either and do remember that thread, but what's between them is between those two and the rest of us need to just let it go. Today is a new day and I am about to celebrate the day my Lord and Savior paid the ultimate price for me in which He has forgiven me of all my sins I have committed against Him and others. Life is to short to lug around our garbage, especially when we don't have to.

I apologize to you. Sorry for stepping on your fingers to further my point. That point being that the sensitivity gate swings both ways. JMO, but Jody came here to intentionally start a fight with SS, using the race card, knowing Smith's long forgotten comments would be indefensible. I kid. But this really is not a laughing matter. JMHO, but I feel a lot of damage has been done here and am not sure it can be fixed. From my understanding, the posts at TS were made prior to Smitty being a mod, when things were very different in his life. I was not a member at that time. We've all posted stupid crap that we had 2nd thoughts about and we've all been flamed (not here). The fact is, if you posted at TS, you had to have thick skin. I think most of you who are honest would agree with that. I don't think all this warranted the casualty that it caused. Not here. Not on this forum.
I've spent time with Smitty and he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I'm one who hates what has happened here and just had to voice my opinion.

I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread. We are TWO days from Easter and honoring a man who stood for love and forgiveness. smithgeneral has been attacked almost relentlessly by others for YEARS about things he said while he had a deep personal problem that he apparently fought and overcame and contunues to fight. Instead of supporting him, we have some throwing it back in his face. I don't know him, never met him, but what he has had to put up with just isn't right on these boards. Personally, I'm surprised he has hung on this long. He never raped anyone, murdered anyone, never stole anything, he just ran his mouth. Shameful treatment.

Well I have one opinion I think that might help. Let's pray one for another. I really believe this will overtake anything in the past, present, and Future. RTR!

You know, I've been thinking of what I could say about all of this.  But MD said it perfectly.

I'm sick over all of this, and first, this thread needs to get pulled.  We were all doing fine until "this" came up, dredging up the past and began attacking someone who was undergoing some pretty bad personal issues at that time, in the distant past.

Who are we to judge?  Things happened, Jody.  Get over it.  You have a beef with someone here, then simply go about your life and make a decision to not interact with a member with whom you've had issues.

I get it.  He offended you.  He offended me, as well, on many, many personal levels.  But I have forgiveness in my heart, and recognize he was sick.  What he did - voluntary rehabilitation - took tons of courage and fortitude.

I have the highest respect for him.  The fact he left I'm sure gives great joy to many people.  And that is what's so sad about people's unwillingness to forgive and to move on.  It's become personal to them.  Personal.  On an internet forum?  Really?

I even forgive you for coming here and intentionally stirring the pot.  But my respect for you declined, which I'm certain you'll lose no sleep over.

That's all I am going to say on this topic; either on this thread or any other.  I'm here to have fun and enjoy the comaraderie of the CRS members.

I agree.  What thread?   When you get my age you'll have trouble remembering whether you shaved this morning.  Life's too short to waste precious time on bad memories.  I consider both of you as efriends.

ditto ssmithhhh, 2 Stater, Marshall and all.  I am sorry for any part I have had in this thread that may have harmed ssmithgeneral.  Playing detective, digging for facts of 3-4 years ago was not the best way to handle this situation.  It's almost like we had a court hearing.

I LOVE ssmithgeneral and have saved a few pictures he posted of himself when we all used to share that kind of thing.  One, especially, I would give anything to post but can't due to embarrassing him and invading his privacy.  All the pictures show a blonde, smiling young man that you would feel comfortable approaching and making friends with.  He looks nothing like the irritable, scowling picture from animal house in his avatar.  Probably, some of you saw those pictures and know what he looks like  from the interview video on Tidesports.

I think we shouldn't feel bad about ssmithgeneral emphasizing his personal life though. After a break, he can come back all fresh if he wants to...and it will be a long enough period for people's feelings to go neutral again.

CP - how many times did you edit that?  I'm guessing at least twice.   :P

Whew, Ricky.  You just barely made the cut off.  I just locked the topic, which means no one can reply to it any more.  That is a great note to end on.

I'm still thinking about whether or not it should be deleted.  I generally do not like to delete anything.  When people come back to look for it they don't know how things ended up and sometime will start a new topic asking what happened.  I think locking the topic will serve the purpose of forcing us to just let it go for now.  I might delete it later, I just need to think about it some more.
