Title: Alabama Hosts LSU (7:00 ESPN2)
Post by: pmull on February 09, 2013, 07:29:01 AM
Quote
The Alabama men's basketball team will welcome the LSU Tigers on Saturday night at Coleman Coliseum. The contest is set to tipoff at 7 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN2.

“Well, [we’re] obviously dealing with a very talented LSU team,” UA head coach Anthony Grant. “They come in having won four of their last five, including three in a row, so they are playing well right now. We are excited for this opportunity for a chance for us to get a win here at home.”

The Crimson Tide (14-8, 6-3 SEC) has won six of its last eight games coming into Saturday’s showdown. However, Alabama dropped its most recent contest, falling 49-37 at Auburn last Wednesday night. Junior guard Trevor Releford and sophomore guard Rodney Cooper led the Tide with 11 points apiece.

LSU (13-7, 4-5) comes into Saturday’s affair as one of the hotter teams in the league. The Tigers have won three straight and four of their last five in league play entering its game at Alabama.

Bama needs to put the barn game behind them and win this game. We are 6-3 and sit alone in 4th place in SEC play. You have to win home games.

Beings that I got a call from Trevor Releford this week, I guess I better show up tonight. Hopefully they play better tonight.

After the Auburn fiasco I'm guessing they're trying to get a crowd at Coleman tonight or maybe he read CRS and was ashamed of that game and thought he had some making up to do to me.  ;)

Actually I think they called all of the Tide Pride members trying to get a crowd there tonight.

Man I wish I could go, I would in a heartbeat. Never been to an Alabama football or basketball game. Alabama wanted me to come play basketball one time then C.M. Newton wouldn't give a scholarship. So no go. rofl, RTR!

Missou beats Ole Miss. Ole Miss falls to 7-3. They have lost 3 in a row. Missou 6-4.

Vandy beats Arky by 18. Vandy is now 3-7 and Arky goes to 5-5.

It is early but UK is up on Auburn by 4.

Wow! I'm impressed that you even had their attention. Very cool, Preacher!

Gueye clogs the lane instead of moving his defender out of the way. Jacobs moves his guy out a little giving TR or TL room to drive, but then becomes a spectator. JMHO

Under 1 minute in 1st half-- Bama up 26-19. Pistol and Press would roll in their graves...

Bama 27-21 (half). Hickey yet to score but JOB III allowed to pick up the slack.  >:( Bama letting them "hang around". We've been in this position all too often. Change of rims and LSU may get right back. Let's hope the Tide changes this trend tonight.

It wasn't a pretty game to watch, but it was a "masterpeice" compared to their previous game with Auburn. Their ability to play an uptempo style of play was the difference last night. The game shouldn't have been that close at the end of the game, but the "freethrow bug" bit them again. I thought Bama was making bad choices on their inbound passes at the end of the game, Lacy was struggling at the line and Bama kept throwing the ball in to him when LSU was fouling immediatly, Lacy should have been throwing the ball inbounds.

We'll take the win though, no matter how it looked. Bama heads to Georgia next and it won't be easy there. Geargia is on a hot streak, having won their last 6 games in the conference with a 6-4 record.

A good win for the Tide. The win gets us to 7-3 in SEC play. We are tied with Ole Miss for third place.

It was an ugly game. I am beginning to understand our brand of basketball is ugly. We consistantly hold teams under 60 points. People used to say when Gene Stallings teams won with defense it was ugly too. The outcome looks pretty good.

Home court means more in basketball than any other sport. There were no road wins in the SEC yesterday.

We go back on the road to play UGA on Tuesday. Then we come back home to play USCe on Saturday.

Our RPI is now 63. Not good enough for an at-large NCAA bid. We need to keep winning at home and pick up a few more road wins. A win on the road at Georgia Tuesday night will help us.

Keep JOB III from having a big night. HTH
Had our big guys held him to just his season average, we would have won by 13 instead of 3.

Hit our free throws and keep JOB III to his average and we win by 20.

Our free throw pct. last night was not dramatically below our season average. Inbounding to Jacobs in a auto-foul situation is not a good decision.

I honestly don't think Bama is good enough right now to belong in the NCAA Tournament.

One and done is no fun.

Unless Bama improves dramatically, and soon,  it will be better off in the NIT.

I disagree. The NCAA is always better than the NIT.

We were 20-33 from the line for 60%. We normally shoot a little over 70%. The missed free throws down the stretch is what hurt.

Jacobs hit 7-8 last night. He is only 57% on the year.

And yet he went 2-2 coming down the stretch.  Meanwhile Releford misses both of his.

LOL- that is hindsight-- but the reason Jacobs was wide open was because LSU wanted him on the line. HTH
