Title: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: 2Stater on February 21, 2013, 10:55:26 AM .....of 51 bench press reps at 225 lbs?
http://fansided.com/2013/02/21/nfl-scouting-combine-2013-can-alabamas-jesse-williams-break-bench-press-record/ Quote Jerry Dominguez, the defensive coordinator at Arizona Western junior college and the man who discovered Williams in Australia, told the New York Times that Williams should be able to do 55 to 60 reps at 225 pounds. Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: ricky023 on February 21, 2013, 01:11:29 PM Hey, I could see Jesse breaking this record. He usually pushes 2 or even 3 offensive lineman into the backfield. RTR!

Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: ALTideUp on February 22, 2013, 07:29:51 AM I regret that coach never gave him the rock on any of those halfback plays.

Post by: Catch Prothro on February 22, 2013, 11:53:40 PM I know it's a cool idea, but Saban doesn't let just anyone carry the rock. A couple of years ago, Lacy had a few fumbles when Bama had a pretty comfortable lead, and we didn't see him again for several games.
Jessie was pretty new to football. Remember the goal line play he went the wrong direction, but it turned out OK because he ended up being a decoy? That probably killed any chance of a handoff right there. But to answer the question, yes. I'll put Jessie down for 53 reps. We should do a contest, closest to the actual number wins. Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: 2Stater on February 23, 2013, 09:20:01 AM I predict 57. Anybody know what time he is scheduled?
Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: cbbama99 on February 23, 2013, 09:24:43 AM I'll say Jesse grits out 59.

Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: 2Stater on February 24, 2013, 07:16:19 PM Methinks Jesse was talked out of going full out. He did 30 today.
Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: Catch Prothro on February 24, 2013, 10:13:07 PM Methinks Jesse was talked out of going full out. He did 30 today. That's one less than Knile Davis, Arkansas RB, and tied for 5th (with 7 other players) for his position. There is a big difference between maxing out and repetitions, and they require different training. Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? He didn't go full out (strategically for some purpose) or possibly tweaked something. Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: XBAMA on March 02, 2013, 08:05:00 AM thanks 2 , I saw you online and was thinking you or J might know ...
we have been keeping up with the combine at work and everyone had Jessie down as the record breaker ... so an answer to why not would be great Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record? Post by: pmull on March 02, 2013, 08:12:39 AM Methinks Jesse was talked out of going full out. He did 30 today. I think he was told not to worry about the record because every team knows he has above average strentgh. No need to push it and "tweak" something. Showing out in the weight room has caused many injuries. Title: Re: Can Jesse break the Combine record?
