Title: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: pmull on March 05, 2013, 08:16:13 AM We must win tonight to keep any hope alive of making the NCAA Tournament.
Quote The Alabama men's basketball team will play its final regular-season road contest when it takes on Mississippi on Tuesday night at Tad Smith Coliseum in Oxford, Miss. The contest is set to tip off at 8 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPNU. There will be a lot on the line for the Crimson Tide (19-10, 11-5 SEC), who enter the game tied for second in the SEC standings with Kentucky. With a victory, Alabama would clinch a top four seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament, which means an automatic berth into Friday’s quarterfinals. However, Mississippi (21-8, 10-6) owns a 15-1 home record this season, with the lone loss coming against Kentucky back on Jan. 29. It will also be Senior Night for three Rebels’ players. The Crimson Tide comes into the contest having won five of its last seven games and 11 of its last 15 overall. Most recently, UA dropped a 64-52 decision at then-No. 8/6 Florida on Saturday. Junior guard Trevor Releford led the Tide with 12 points on the day, while sophomores Trevor Lacey and Nick Jacobs each accounted for 11 points in the losing effort. http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/030413aab.html Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 05, 2013, 01:39:30 PM We need Jacobs to be strong inside tonight. Another double-double would be nice. Plus, I am hoping Cooper & Randolph bounce back with some scoring.

Jacobs and Gueye have to slow down OM in the paint and we can not let Henderson beat us. Gueye is not the reason the offense stinks. Once again, we are dribbling and passing way too much, which results in a turnover. Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: BAMAWV on March 05, 2013, 08:48:11 PM Ole Miss 30-23 3:22

We must slow then down and make them play our pace.

Typical Tide game. I bet half of those 58 points were scored in the final five minutes.:-X Too little too late. Nice to see the effort to the finish, and Randolph hitting baskets again, but we still haven't played a full game. Refs were awful, hitting Bama early and often. How could they not call a flagrant foul on Henderson? Georgia game is now a must win. Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on March 06, 2013, 08:53:06 AM The late flurry of points couldn't cleanse the bad taste out of my mouth for another subpar performance. We continue to have 5-10 minute stretches of completely inept play every game.
Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: pmull on March 06, 2013, 08:59:13 AM Tough loss. Both teams needed this win and Ole Miss came out ready to play and took it to us from the start. I like how we fought back especially starting about the 11:00 mark.
All we can do now is beat UGA on Saturday and go to the SEC Tournament in Nashville with a chip on our shoulder with the attitude we have to win games and see what happens. Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: ricky023 on March 06, 2013, 11:07:08 AM Well I believed in our team all year. I just can not figure out how CAG teaches in practices. He must do it in little spurts and then we play that way. I am totally empty at the moment. RTR!

It's an allegorical statement. We play one lousy half and one good half, but never a complete game. :4: Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: ricky023 on March 06, 2013, 12:22:43 PM Hey can anybody give a estimation as to why we are a one half team. Could it be because we are not in shape enough to last a full game? Well I know it would take a guess only but what are some ideas? RTR!
Title: Re: Alabama Travels To Take On Mississippi Tuesday Night (8:00 ESPNU) Post by: BAMAWV on March 06, 2013, 01:41:50 PM Hey can anybody give a estimation as to why we are a one half team. Could it be because we are not in shape enough to last a full game? Well I know it would take a guess only but what are some ideas? RTR! Our half court offense sux. Half the game we have no threat at all around the basket and on the season we are not a big threat from 3 point land. That leaves 3 guards to either shoot with hands in their face or beat their man on a drive. It is what it is and CAG cannot switch it up during a timeout, to gain an edge.Meanwhile, the opposition is playing with 5 guys instead of 3 or 4. If we defend the post (lol) they start kicking out and shooting 3s.We ease out on the shooters and they start working down low on 9'GB. We front the big man down low, and he starts working pick and rolls from the top of the lane. Our full court defense is effective but it takes more out of us than it does our opponents. But that is one way to break open a game from yo-yoing back and forth from halfcourt offense to halfcourt defense. But if CAG works it too long, we start piling up turnovers and PFs. To summarize, 9'GB must go or next year will be much of the same. Glad to hear your getting better. I wonder also if CAG is getting use to yet playing with the big boys in the SEC. Fla. is a monster, and Kentucky usually is. They attract a lot of good recruits it seems we have to shore different spots to dance a little. I still believe if we can win the SEC tourney we could get in and you never know we might be that Cinderella that pops up every year. RTR!
