Title: Baseball Travels to No. 5 Louisville for Three Games This Weekend
Post by: pmull on March 08, 2013, 08:08:43 AM
We have played a good schedule so far. We have another good opponent this weekend. Louisville is # 5 with a 9-2 record. Good starting pitching. The weekend starters have ERA's of 1.69, 1.02 & 2.61. They all have more strikeouts than innings pitched. This is a difficult road trip.

Quote
The Alabama Crimson Tide (8-4) will travel to Louisville, Ky., for three games against the nationally ranked Louisville Cardinals (9-2) this weekend. The series begins on Friday with a 2 p.m. CT first pitch from Jim Patterson Stadium. Game two and three of the series will begin at noon CT, on Saturday and Sunday.

The games on Friday and Sunday will be on 95.3 FM, and due to a scheduling conflict with Alabama men’s basketball on Saturday, the middle game of the series will be on 790 AM, with Lee Tracey providing the commentary for all three games of the series. Livestats will also be available on RollTide.com. A live webcast of all three games of the series will be available through the Louisville website at www.gocards.com/CardsTV, as part of the school’s subscription package.

It is hard to believe one of the weak links on our team is the DH. We need a lard azz who can not play a lick in the field but can rip the cover off the ball. We have to have someone on the team who can make contact with the ball.  >:(

Noticing the Bama hitters are at least patient at the plate, taking the L'ville closer deep in the count.

I'll defer to you guys that follow this close, but it seems we may not see progress until the improvements to our facility are complete.

I think we have improved since last year although the record does not show it. We have decent pitching but we are still having trouble hitting for average and power. We have a .226 avg and 4 HR after 15 games. Our team is young and they should get better but The SEC schedule will not be easy. We need to start playing better fast.

The baseball facilities need an upgrade. That will help recruiting but that is not the answer any more than the barn building a $90M basketball facility to help their basketball program. They are still at the bottom.

Our problem is coaching. We are getting good recruits but our team is not improving as the year goes on. I hope this year is different but last year's team was as good in game 1 as they were in game 50. If you have a young team you should be seeing improvement as the year goes along.

CMG needs to get things turned around fast because IMO he is on the hot seat.
