What happened to our coach?  He calls a timeout, sets up a play, and we score before halftime!   :o

Bama up by 4 at the half.

Big 3 by T-Rel to end it.

We are playing well.

Releford hits a 3 at the buzzer to put the Tide up 31-27.

Releford-- 12 points on 4-7shooting--2-2 on 3s and 2-2 at the line.
Randolph and Obasohan with 7 each.

I'm really starting to like Obasohan!  He should be PG when Releford graduates.  Does well in traffic, can make the 3-pointer, 15 footer and layup, can attack with the dribble.  Definitely improved.

Randolph is shooting better today.  Finally.  He will never be a PG though, with poor passing.

Lacey needs to start hitting shots.  He must have done well against TN in the past, they are guarding him tight.

Steele contributes more on D than O.  He does get Bama out of a scoring drought sometimes though.  Hope he is back soon.

Both teams will make halftime adjustments but we seemed to find something after Tenn went up 13-8. We played good offensively and defensively after that point.

We need to get Jacobs involved down low.

Not so fast my friend!  That shot was taken not at the buzzer, but with over 5 seconds left, giving the team the opportunity for second chance points if it missed.  Gueye was under the basket, and Cooper, Randolph and Lacey were moving towards it and ready just in case.  Just like you would draw it up.

I'm really surprised TN didn't call a timeout with over 3 seconds left.

Tennessee started out really  hot shooting, but it seemed that the full court pressure wore them down, and they cooled off.

Long pass in to Stokes ends up Bama ball, but no thanks to Gueye, who stands by and watches the whole thing. >:( Is it possible the DA does not know thatIT wants to get Stokes the ball and that SOMEONE needs to front him to prevent it?

The stats won't reflect it-- 6pts., 12 rebs.-- but Jacobs played an incredible 2nd  half both on Stokes and offensively. RTR

Randolph is our 2nd best player and has been my favorite (minus Releford) since last year. He is always around the action,--steals, rebounds, moving the ball. He plays his heart out every game and gets overlooked when assessing the Tide as a unit.

Good team win for Bama. T-Rel, Lacey, Randolph, Obasohan and Jacobs played well extremely well today. One of our best games of the year. Jacobs was big at both ends.

I never thought we would hold them to 48 points.

Nice win. Makes the entire season look better. Huge game with Florida tomorrow.

Jacobs had 6 pts but 12 boards. We need his presence in the paint. He used his strength today.

Randolph had 15 and 5 boards. He was aggressive and hit some big shots.

T-Rel was his usual self getting 14 pts.

Obasohan got 9 which are unexpected pts.

Lacey got 6 but but they were big pts at the right time.

Coach Grant put in a great game plan. Tip of the hat to CAG and staff.

Tenn had been playing well and they were a tough out. We make it look easy today.

Excellent evaluation of the game. Randolph and Jacobs, & Oba really came through for us. We have to have Lacey play big if we have a chance to beat Florida.

Great win.  I agree, probably the best game we have played all year.  A complete game, no long scoring drought.

When Jacobs picked up his 2nd PF (around the half-way mark of the 1st half), CAG must've felt he had to get him out. So Gueye received more playing time than CAG would've liked. But it is such a relief, with an NCAA bid on the line, that CAG has given up on his project and started listening to me.

But pulling a guy due to 2 or 3 fouls is something I'd like to at least discuss, with CAG. The old premise is to get him on the bench so that you'll have him for late in the game. But sometimes you see them do that and they lose momentum and game is so far out of hand by the time he goes back it really doesn't matter. That is what happened to UT and McRae this afternoon.

McRae scored 9 pts and played 31 minutes. He was 3-13 from the field. Our defense shut him down not the Tenn coach pulling him for about 3 minutes.

He is their quarterback, their field general. We had about a 8-10 point run during that stretch from which they never recovered.

We made our runs with PG Golden on the bench. Mostly because their field general McRae could not handle the ball.

Went back to replay it on ESPN3-- Bama only made a 6 pt. run with McCrae on the bench. But we went up by our largest lead of the game (to that point of the game) during that period, and UT never recovered.

It really did not matter if he was in the game or not. He was pressing and not playing very well because we were wearing his azz out. JMHO

It was a fun game to watch today.  It is the first game I can remember where we didn't get lost on offense for 5 minutes or more.  Jacobs had a huge game IMO.

I think we have to beat UF tomorrow to get in, or at least play them very close and have a bunch of other bubble teams get blown out.  We can beat UF if we don't have an offensive drought like we did at their place last time.

I like that we are playing a team that is already in without any doubts instead of another team that is backed into a corner like we are.  If we beat UF and end up facing Ole Miss in the final, that will be a knock down drag out.

Fortunately he didn't listen to your saying Obasohan was a project.

But it does seem like he is reading our boards.  That timeout before halftime, and the shot's execution, are something I have been harping on.  And the team smelled blood and put TN away this time, finally finishing a game.

Missouri led Ole Miss all game, by a large margin at times, till Ole Miss tied it down the stretch.  Missouri had the ball with twenty seconds left, in a tie game, called a timeout to set up a final play.  And what happens?   The most ridiculous inbounds pass I have seen, straight to Ole Miss.  Ole Miss calls TO, sets up a play and scores for the victory.   >:(

Saturday is Bama v. Florida and Vandy v. Ole Miss.
