Title: No. 22 Alabama Baseball Defeats Alcorn State, 3-2
Post by: pmull on April 10, 2013, 07:41:19 AM
We play Alcorn State again tonight before traveling to Ole Miss for a three game weekend series.

Quote
Alabama junior righty Tucker Hawley tossed five scoreless innings and freshman second baseman Kyle Overstreet had two RBI as the Crimson Tide held on to defeat the Alcorn State Braves, 3-2, on Tuesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The win moves Alabama to 21-13 overall, while Alcorn State's loss drops their record to 8-29.

"I thought [Tucker] Hawley gave us a good start, then [Taylor] Guilbeau came in and gave us a couple of innings," Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard said. "We wanted to stretch Ray [Castillo] out a little bit with two innings and we certainly weren't expecting that in the ninth, but on Tuesdays after tough weekends, sometimes you just have to find a way to win and that's we did tonight."

Yesterdays win was number 21 on the season. That matches the number of wins we had all of last year.

These were two games we should win and we did win. These mid week wins are very important because wins are so difficult to get in SEC play. We travel to Ole Miss this weekend.
