Title: Florida Football Coach Resigns
Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 10, 2013, 09:23:39 PM
This does not smell right.

Quote
Florida defensive line coach Bryant Young resigned Wednesday at a team meeting.

Young, a four-time Pro Bowl selection at defensive tackle with the San Francisco 49ers, was hired in 2011 to join then-Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who was Young’s position coach with the 49ers. Quinn left the Gators earlier this season to be defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.

“We are very thankful for Coach Young’s contributions to the program and I respect his decision. This is strictly a personal decision and has nothing to do with NCAA compliance, but just an opportunity to evaluate his future path,” Florida coach Will Muschamp said.

Saying it had nothing to do with NCAA compliance means it had a lot to do with NCAA compliance. Odd statement by Muschamp either way.

Well I guess every Coach in the country had stuff hidden that is about to come out to the light. Lordy, he gave away his reasoning I think. RTR!

Exactly what I thought. Kind of like your kid saying that he or she didn't do anything wrong that day, especially to Joe or Sally Smith.

Very strange. I wonder what the compliance issue it is.

I am a member of a private Gator's message board and some of the posts there indicate that Young and Muschamp were not getting along very well.  That might explain Muschamp's comment... :dunno:

Could be a compliance problem but most likely not...sounds like the old tell the cop there's nothing in the trunk there's nothing in the trunk and while he checks the trunk you clean out the glove compartment trick to me.  :dunno:

Were they not getting along due to compliance issues?

I played golf with a Florida alumni today. He says he's close to some insiders who said that Muschamp is just getting rid of the deadwood, FWIW.

It took Muschamp this long to figure out he was "deadwood?" The season ended over 3 months ago. This sounds like the kind of excuse you would hear from Auburn fans when things go wrong.
