Title: Baseball: Alabama At Ole Miss (Sat 4:00 CSS)
Post by: pmull on April 12, 2013, 08:30:24 AM
This is a very important road series for our team. We are off to a good start and we need to keep the momentum going. We must win at least one game but if we could pick up two wins that would be fantastic. Ole Miss needs this series worst than we do. They are off to a slow start at 4-8 in SEC play. They have lost 7 of their last 9 games but still have a good RPI and ranked 18th.

Quote
The No. 22-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (22-13, 8-4 SEC) will travel to Oxford, Miss., to play a three game series against the No. 18-ranked Mississippi Rebels (23-10, 4-8) this weekend.  Game one of the series will begin at 6:30 p.m. CST, from Swayze Field on Friday night. Game two, which will be televised on CSS, will start at 4 p.m. CST, and the series finale will begin at 1:30 p.m. CST, on Sunday.

All Alabama baseball games throughout the 2013 season will be broadcast by the Crimson Tide Sports Network. All three games of the Mississippi series will be broadcast on 95.3 The Bear. Chris Stewart will be solo on Friday and will be joined by Lee Tracey for the weekend games. Livestats will also be available on RollTide.com. A live webcast will be available on olemisssports.com through the subscription package for the Friday and Sunday games.

Alabama posted a pair of mid-week home wins over Alcorn State, 3-2 and 7-3, on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. In its last SEC series, Alabama lost two of three games to No. 9 Arkansas, after closing the series with a 5-0 win on Saturday. With an 8-4 SEC record, Alabama is currently tied for second place in the SEC Western Division with Arkansas.  The Crimson Tide is ranked No. 22 by Collegiate Baseball News and is receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Coaches and NCBWA polls.

Alabama lost Game 2 5-2. We gave up three unearned runs in the 8th and that was the difference. We out hit OM 5-4 but two errors cost us the game.

Alabama............. 000 000 200 -  2  5  2
Mississippi.......... 000 002 03X -  5  4  0

We are 8-6 after Saturday's loss. We need to win today to avoid the sweep. Spencer Turnbull will pitch today. He has been on fire in SEC play. He has not given up a run in 29 2/3 innings and is 4-0.

We need to get the bats going and score some runs. We only have 7 hits in the first two games. The OM pitching has been very good.

Our pitching gave up 9 walks and hit one batter in this game.  That's 10 extra base runners.  One of the errors was on a routine double play ball which would have gotten us out of the inning without giving up the 3 runs that beat us.

Alabama lost to Ole Miss today 4-3 in 11 innings. Ole Miss sweep us winning all three games. We fall to 8-7 in SEC play.

We got the lead 3-2 in the top of the 8th but could not hold the lead. We left 13 runners on base. We only scored 5 runs in the series.

Alabama............. 000 000 120 00 -  3 10  0

It does not get any easier. LSU comes to Tuscaloosa next weekend.
