Title: Ohio State in deep Kimchi
Post by: 2Stater on April 25, 2011, 09:43:34 AM
ESPN just announced that the NCAA has released a list of allegations against Ohio State and that severe penalties are likely forthcoming. No link yet. I just heard it as breaking news on Sports Center.

The allegations are pointed at Tressel for lying about the players' activities. The source is "The Columbus Dispatch".

First of all, this is THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY! They are a member of the Big Ten and would NEVER do anything unethical. Only those rubes and rednecks down South would do such things. The Big Ten is an elite conference of elite schools with elite coaches. Many of their past elite coaches incude Lee Corso, Rich Rodriguez, Jim O'Brien, Bobby Knight, and Woody Hayes. You all are just jeaous you don't have such fine, upstanding men as this here in the South.

I usually don't care much for tony but this one I like ... http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/14992130/ohio-state-proves-big-ten-not-ethically-superior-to-sec/rss

Quote
As of this moment all of my friends from the Big Ten are on notice. And you know who you are. You are the ones who call and write constantly about the (expletive) Southeastern Conference and claim with such confidence that the only reason the SEC has been so successful (five straight national championships and counting) is that its schools are ethically challenged and have their priorities misplaced.

You are the ones who talk about the Big Ten schools in hushed, reverent tones and use terms such as "greater academic mission." Your schools are not football factories like ours in the great, unwashed South. Your schools would never cut ethical corners like we do down here, where you believe our motto is: "If you ain't cheatin' you ain't trying." You look down your collective noses at us.

Give me a freaking break.

I don't want to hear any more lectures on ethics or morals or accountability from that part of the world -- not if Jim Tressel returns as Ohio State's football coach this season.

In a positive for the school, the NCAA did not cite Ohio State for "failure to monitor" or "failure of institutional control" violations. That charge typically carries the largest penalties.

Anyone care to elaborate how this is not so?

Is there a 10 in the answer?

OK,players selling personals, associating with a known felon. Head coach covers it up,lies(see Pearl),contacts FBI agent later, contacts numerous folks, everyone except HIS BOSS. They botched the Maurice C. fiasco because, well, they couldn't locate him to ask him questions (yeah, right). Head coach lies and says he didn't want to jeopardize a federal investigation, puleeze. The writing is on the wall, left by the dirty hands of the ncaa, when they chose to not charge the school with Lack of Control. They're going to skate with minimal penalties, and when they do,I say bama needs to file a class action suite against them, citing bias, inconsistencies with penalties, and try to recover income lost from bowl revenue. I say sling everything we got at them. If we lose,so what? Leave and become Independent,we could do just as well,if not better.Sorry for the rant, carry on
