Title: Harley riders, lets talk
Post by: ssmith general on April 25, 2011, 12:35:02 PM
I am willing to concede that for whatever reason you need to be that loud, it's just going to be that way.  I will concede that my road is a nice for a drive.  I will also concede that you like to ride in groups of a billion.

I have only one request, can you please go ahead and shift up and cruise?  Then at least the pictures wont fall off the wall.  Whatever that revving is for, I believe you are awesome and loud, you don't have to do it.

TIA.

Loud pipes save lives.

Sorry, but there should be laws.  But since there isnt, how about no revving?  A little bit of overdrive goes a long way.

It was just a bumper sticker I saw.  My little sister rides a Harley.  Oddly enough, it's crimson and she's a barner....  Hers doesn't seem that loud but I can imagine a herd of them all going by at the same time.

Some are worse than others.  Some I can hear long before they get here and long after.  Others, you only notice if you're out front and watching.  The whole herd tears down the walls.  It's very common here.  Not just the groups, but a lot of individual riders.  I carry a lot of hate for the loud ones and I just dont understand it.

I have a booger sister too.

Flyboy, do you still ride with Zuter?  If so, tell him I said to get his rear end over here.  I need to know what's going on with BBQ and ironman training.

I haven't ridden bicycles with the club in almost 2 years.  Health and work have kept me off the bike for a long time.  Zuter seems to spend most of his time on Facebook.  If you need his name just PM me and I'll point you in his direction.

I could also find plenty images to support that quiet bikes get hit too.

Oh, I concur,  they certainly do. But the pipes do little to swing the results the other way.

I was a couple of cars behind a motorcycle when G'pa and G'ma pulled out onto a Texas 'Farm to Market'. The sun was low in the western sky so you had to squint looking in that direction. Through no fault of his own, that guys whole life changed within a couple of seconds.

I understand and like I told ssmith earlier it was just a helmet or bumper sticker that I was quoting anyway.   I prefer my motorcycles to have knobby tires and long travel suspensions.

Every time I start getting serious about buying a motorcycle, I wind up going to a bad motorcycle wreck. I was looking at the new Victory Eight Ball series one shift, and went to the wreck ( in the pic above) the next. I am going to stop getting serious about looking for a motorcycle. I feel like I being a jinx for these riders!

My uncle was an emergency room physician for 40 years and he calls them murdercycles.

We had our neighbors son who hit a bridge, a cement one, and it tore him pieces so bad they could not open him. RTR!

Such a shame. They are so high risk, but I can see where riding in the breeze can be enjoyable. I'll stay with something that has 4 wheels on it.

Amen! I use to like to ride a Farm tractor and a Hay Wagon but not something to get killed on. RTR!

Motorcycles are safe means of transportation.  It is the people in cars that cause the majority of motorcycle accidents I think...

From what I've seen ( and in no way a formal study) it's about 50 / 50. Idiots are idiots, no matter what they are driving. Look at truck drivers today. When i was growing up, truckers were the best drivers on the road. Now, they are just as bad as everyone else.

I agree with the idiots will be idiots. My bigget concern with a bike is the braking ability of the bike.

I finally gave up my bike.  There are just too many of those idiots who don't look closely before they pull out.  I had two close friends crushed by a nice lady who just didn't look closely.  They slammed her car at 65 mph.  No brakes will help that.

Be careful if you're still riding.  Expect EVERY car to pull out at the last second.  Meanwhile, have fun.  Bikes are a thrill.

My apologies this turned into a safety analysis.  My point was just please be aware that you are very loud and try not to rev.

Hence, the reason I got rid of mine,in 1987 after being run off the road by a drunk teenager, with no insurance. Still luvem, but have no desire to get back on one,for now anyway

Sweet! I've also wanted one since childhood.Your color was my 1st choice,to pin my Roll Tide magnets to. When I went to shop for it,I picked one out the same color as yours online. However, when I got to dealership,it was nonexistent as it had sold and they hadn't updated their page.Only one left was the charcoal gray, but I'm satisfied with it.
