Very poor year for the Tide. Might be time to consider a change in coaching.

We have a very young team this year. We have improved a lot from the terrible year we had last year. I think CMG has done a good job and next year looks even better. The pitching is strong and the bats are getting better. We have a RPI of 31. Our problem is the SEC is so difficilt. The teams ahead of us in the league are all top 20 programs.

I have followed this team closely. We have lost 5 SEC games in extra innings. All of our losses are tight games. I am very happy with the improvement we have made. We will be a # 2 seed in a regional. We also have another good recruiting class coming in next year.

I know you keep up with them close and watch them. I can only get what I do off Al.com and from our posts here. So I hope my nervousness is not to soon, but it my be a dream come true next year. I would really like to see us deep in tourney this year. RTR!

My concern is that this is his 4th year and each year the team gets worse. That is a huge signal to me. Did he win early because of someone else's recruiting & players? We have seen this in other sports and it never ends nice. I think in his 5th year he HAS to produce a contender and solid SEC play. I hope you are right and I am wrong.

I am confused why you think we are worse this year than last. The overall and SEC record shows improvement. We are much better this year. We were bottom of the SEC last year and missed the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. I was very critical of CMG last year but I think this year he is doing a good job of developing the young talent he has recruited. We have had two good recruiting years and this year looks good as well.

We will get an NCAA bid this year. That will be our third time in four years under CMG.

Like I said, I think next year is a critical year to see if he can produce a really solid team, not just an average or slightly above average team. I think we can do better and should demand better. I hope he proves me wrong, then I will be very happy to be wrong.

Things are improving and changes to the physical plant will combine with CMG's progress. The future looks bright, but patience is necessary.

He will do better next year. He will get rid of the ones who doesn't want to be here. Then all these recruits can come and show what we want to know. Are they ready to play SEC toughness? I think they will be. RTR!

This is a very young team this year and I thought the intensity of their play was huge compared to last year. They've lost a bunch of 1 run games this year, last year they lost by much bigger margins.

I'm not sold on Gaspard at all, but I do think the team was much better overall this year. There's a lot of good young talent on this team and now the pressure is on Gaspard to get them into the upper bracket of the SEC and that's what will decide his fate in the very near future.

This is my biggest concern. I had a very good hs baseball coach tell me that Gaspard is a joke among hs coaches & that's why he misses out on some good Alabama hs talent. Just relaying what a coach told me.

Good post Jamos. I am not 100% sold on Gaspard either but anyone that follows Alabama baseball can see a huge improvement since last year. Is that coaching or the players?  :dunno:

I never expected to go from missing the SEC Tournament last year to a contenter for the SEC title this year. However, I wanted to see a big improvement and we have done that. We need to take another leap forward next year.
