I am surprised they fired him. He had the best year of any barn coach. Football finished 14th, basketball 14th, baseball 10th. How did Barbee miss the mass firings? I think you just nailed something I had not thought of. Lowder was plying Auburn with millions of dollars. His personal wealth was $100 million but after Colonial collapsed, he was worth $10 mil. Huge difference in what you can do with your money when you drop that much wealth. His influence and monetary "influence" evaporated after the bank problems, so has the Auburn sports programs.
