It is so hard to see us @ 14-15 in the SEC. We have to have some good baseball teams in our league. To be down one game in our division  and still make the playoffs is kind of nice. RTR!

Both teams went 3up/down in the 1st. 

Troy has a runner on 1st with 1 out in the top of the 2nd.

Bama got a double play to end the T2nd after Troy got runners on 1st and 2nd.

Another big double play. Those freshmen up the middle can turn a DP as good as any team in the NCAA.

Bama yet to get a runner on base.  0-0 T3.

Bama gets 1 on 3 hits in the bottom of the 3rd. 

Bama allows a double and walks a batter to lead off the 4th.  Troy's clean up hitter made us pay with a 3-run shot.

Still no outs in the top of the 4th, Bama down 3-1.

Bama's starter couldn't make it out of the 4th.  Troy up 5-1 now going to the bottom of the inning.

After six:

Troy   5 7 0
Bama 1 5 1

Bama falls into the losers' bracket after a 5-2 loss to Troy.

Will play the loser of FSU and Savannah State.

Troy out pitched us today. They started their ace who was Sun Belt Player of the Year. He is 9-1 on the year. He shut us down today.

Not to mention we could not get out of the 4th inning until we gave up 5 runs.

It was not a good start for the team but they have the players to come back and win this thing. RTR!!!  :clap:

Bama wins and advances with a nail biter 3-2 win over Savannah State.

Mike Oczypok got the win and Castillo got the save.

We will play the loser of the FSU-Troy game at 11:00 tomorrow.

Florida State is up 3-0 on Troy.  Assuming FSU hangs on and we beat Troy tomorrow, I guess that means we'd still have to beat FSU twice to advance.

Losing that first game is a no-no, it will be very tough to beat Troy and then beat Fla State twice.

Bama has an 8-4 lead on Troy in the bottom of the 8th, but is in a spot of trouble.  Troy has the bases loaded with 1 out.  Game is on ESPNU.

WHEW!

Bama gets out of the bases loaded jam by only allowing 1 run.

8-5 going into the 9th.

If we hang on, we'll have to play FSU later today and again tomorrow if we win.

Troy not going down easily.  They've cut the lead to 8-7 and have a men on 1st and 2nd with 1 out.

The Braves are up 3-2 on Washington, but they sure are wishy washy today. Pitching gets bases loaded and then they get 3 outs.  Hey CB I was watching Detroit and Orioles and looked like the bats were doing a lot of swinging but not much contact. RTR!

Troy ties it up and they have the winning run on 3rd.  Still only 1 out. 

Our freshman out on the bump is really struggling.

Now the ump is squeezing the zone.  That 1-0 pitch was a strike.

We walk in the winning (losing) run.  9-8 final.

Not sure why Gaspard left the freshman out there to implode, but he'll have several months to think about it.  Season's over.

It hurts when we walk home the winning run. I think the guys gave it their all. Troy was not a bad team to lose to. So, what is next for us to do? Do we have any recruits coming? RTR!

There were a couple of games this year I watched that seemed like he left a struggling pitcher in there too long and ended up costing us the game.  Maybe he doesn't have a lot of depth to work with at pitcher?  I know we had a walk on pitcher the other day against LSU, and he actually pitched a great game that day.

Buckle your chin strap!  The football team is back on campus getting ready for fall camp.

Things are looking up for the future, Ricky.  We were a young team this year, and we're supposed to have one of our best recruiting classes ever coming in (or so I've been told).

We walked 5 batters and hit 3 batters in the 8th and 9th inning for a total of 8 free base runners. Troy was not patient, we could not throw strikes.

This is a bad way to end the year for a team that showed a lot of improvement. However, we had a total meltdown on the mound from Shaw in the 8th and Castillo in the 9th. We should have won this game 8-4.

Threw the game away.  Literally.  It was painful.

I am still disappointed in the 8th and 9th inning collaspe by our pitchers. I am also disappointed in our coaching staff. Castillo has a sore shoulder. He did not pitch at all during the SEC tournament for this reason. He clearly did not have control of his pitches in the 9th yesterday. CMG nor Pitching Coach Dax Norris even made a trip to the mound to try and settle him down.

I really hate this year ended this way. Our team did some good things this season. Until yesterday our late inning relief had been real good. Last year we lost too many games late because we could not hold leads. Our defense played outstanding all year. We lead the nation in double plays turned with 80. Starting pitching was good. The area we need to improve on next year is hitting. We did not have any player hit over .300. Our team batting average was about .250. Austen Smith lead the team with 7 home runs. We need to hit for a higher slugging %. We need more home runs and extra base hits.

We have a lot to look forward to next year. We lose a few good seniors in Booth, Roberts, Miller and Sullivan but most of the team should be back.
