Title: Former Auburn RB Dyer Looking for "Third Chance"
Post by: Marshal Dillon on July 01, 2013, 03:26:31 PM
I don't see a major program giving him a chance.

Quote
Former Auburn running back Michael Dyer says he has given up synthetic marijuana and his registered weapon, has earned a two-year degree and hopes one more university gives him a chance to play this season, which he wants to do as opposed to entering the upcoming NFL supplemental draft.

"I want a chance to show people my character is better than it was in the past," Dyer said from his home in Little Rock, Ark., on Monday. "I want to clear my name. I understand the reasons I am in this situation. I placed myself here. I take responsibility."]

Arkansas State dumped him.  Is he looking for a major program?

If he has truely cleaned up his act like he says he has I hope things work out for him at a school like Western KY or Troy. I would be surprised if a major program takes a chance with him.

Sitting out a year and getting a two year degree shows he is at least trying to get his life turned around.

He's like a stray dog, going from house to house looking for his next meal. Maybe he needs to give up on football and try to get a good job, there's nothing left in football for him. ;)

If he's trying to fly straight, I wish him nothing but the best.

This soul needs our prayers whether he is bad or good. I will be the first to admit that I am slack in that duty, but I WILL allow the Lord to change my thinking. RTR!

If he is still in shape & is truly sincere, I think a coach might give him a try. I think the suggestion of someone like Troy or UAB giving him a chance is right on.

Those are two of the programs looking at him, along with UAB and Marshall.  He was hoping for Louisville, but Charlie Strong isn't interested.

Well if he is trying to let his life be cleaned up by the Lord then, then if GOD forgives him, who am I to say not to? RTR!

I wonder if this shakes out?

Fresh off receiving his degree, Michael Dyer is looking to play a little football.

The former Auburn and Arkansas State running back told USA Today‘s George Schroeder that he continues to seek opportunities to revive his football career. Dyer said that even if another program offers him a scholarship, he’d prefer to join his hometown Arkansas Razorbacks as a walk-on.
