Title: Did Falcons Give Up Too Much for Julio Jones?
Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 29, 2011, 11:18:02 PM
Interesting question and article. Wide receivers don't cary the value in the first round of the NFL Draft that they used to. I think you could make a point both ways on the issue.

Absolutely not. I think he was a steal as far as he dropped. I thought #3 or 4 and to still be there shoot that was great. RTR!

I can see it either way. Like some analyst was saying yesterday, Atlanta may now have the most dangerous wide receiver corps in the league. Couple that with a great QB like Matt Ryan and a punishing running game, and you have the makings of an offense that could be among the top 5 (or even 3) in the league. However, did ATL mortgage too much? They do need some help on defense (though they could go the free agency route once the whole lockout stuff is finally solved), but those are  A LOT of picks. My guess is that if JJ lives up to his potential and becomes the playmaker the Falcons think he will be, then nobody will remember how much they gave up.

cbbama you got that right. Those guys on TV just try to make talk and have something to say. We saw JJ play and he is going to HOF material I think. RTR!

Nope.

He is going to deal some pain to opposing secondaries.

Instead of saying someone was "steamrolled" they will now say he got "Julio'd".

I agree with you.  Julio just has to keep his head clear. He needs to not listen to all these stupid ignorant sportscasters.  He has talent that will compliment the Falcons offense.  He won't be "carrying" the team. They HAVE an offense - he is just going to improve it 100% :)

I do know that he had got to be one of the toughest guys I have ever seen at WR. I hope that the NFL DBs don't think they are going to have an easy time with this rookie, b/c I guarantee JJ will knock somebody's block off.
